hit 25, about to do the Ascension quest or w/e it's called. Neuv was definitely a good call though, even at level 40 and no optimization or upgrades he's destroying shit. would it behoove me to add a 2nd water character for the 25% HP bonus? atm I just have 4 unique elements, I could swap Barbara in for Qiqi once I can level her

When you start to explore Dragonspine, Barbara comes in handy as will the HP. Her healing skill basically lets you explore without the need to worry about the cold weather mechanic if you have the HP healing set on her; at the least, she'll highly mitigate it.

True, Bennet with Mauvika is fine, but having her and Citlali at the same time, and then two reruns on the next, is pure fuck you vibes but it really feels like it's to get new players the true Pyro Archon at C6. Would it kill them to make pulling feel good for older accounts?

On the flip side, Mavuika's banner basically has an entire team for her on it for newer players. It's a little annoying for me because I want Lanyan and Chevreuse constellations, but by the same token, it means pulling on Mavuika's banner just gets me more Starglitter for extra Intertwined Fates. Maybe I'll even gamble a bit on Arleccino's banner if my Mavuika pulls go well.

For Qal, Mavuika's banner is a full team. Arleccino is probably a little more flexible as a carry but Mavuika should also work pretty well off-field, which Arleccino can't do. The 4*s on Arleccino's banner are better for people who have been playing longer but their utility is a bit more niche than the ones on Mavuika's banner. I would honestly probably just look up some videos on Arleccino and then try the Mavuika trial and decide which one you like the look/feel of better. They're both two of the premier on-field damage dealers in the game, it's hard to go wrong between them.

I skipped Arleccino the first time she ran. I was considering trying to get her on a rerun if the timing was convenient because I am pretty lacking in a strong Pyro DPS (even though I love playing Diluc), but I'm probably going to skip her again because Mavuika's exploration ability is more appealing to me, and I can also put her weapon on Diluc.

IIRC, you can't really get any of the banner's materials, sans the Mavuika one, as it has two Mondstandt characters on it. The Mavuika banner would be a full, serviceable team, and work fine for a young account. Mauvika wats natlan characters, for her burst mode, but paird with Bennett, is still really good. C6 Bennett is arguably the best support in the game and also comes around the monthly shop, for further constellations, so honestly, it's probably the one to pull. Dianna has shield, heals, and a big EM boost at C6, but somewhat Niche on a broad roster, and Kachina is just a cute lil button and nothing more.

The reason the Phase 2 banners interest older accounts is because, the 4* on them are cracked for their teams and good 5* characters, with Arle being the better of the two, especially with her signature weapon. I personally could use a 2nd Lightning DPS, so I may have to skip Citlali, even though I want her for a Mavuika team, though I think Mona would be a good alternative and give me a reason to use her.

The second half is Arleccino and Clorinde.

IMO Clorinde is really fun in an Aggrevate setup with Fischl. It does kinda necessitate that you have Nahida or Baizhu though. The team I use right now is Xilonen/Nahida/Fischl/Clorinde. There are some Taser setups too I believe, but I haven't tried them. I think she also works well with a Chevreuse team but I haven't tried that either since mine is only C1.

Down to my last 100 primo's but mission accomplished. Starting to wonder if they're going to update Mondstadt at some point, feels absolutely primitive compared to the rest of the game now.

Edit: A number of voices still missing, so if you haven't started Natlan yet, it might be best to explore older content first.

Got Mavuika, but it hurt. Lost the 50/50 at 81 to Mona (C5 now), guarantee was probably 70+ as well. I stopped counting since I had to drain all my glitter (I'll check tomorrow). I think at least a third of those were from Bennett duplicates. Next is trying for Citlali before the banner ends.

Edit: Checked and Mavuika was 81 + 79 to get.

Well, I got C2R1 Mavuika and C0R1 Citlali.

But what did it cost me? Everything (plus a top-up).

I actually won all four 50/50s on the character banner. Where I got royally fucked was the weapon banner. I lost the first 75/25 to Skyward Blade, so I reset my Fate point hoping I would get the weapon I didn't chart, and then I could get the other weapon and not deal with another 75/25. Well, I charted Citlali's weapon and ended up getting it, so that plan backfired. Then I lost the next 75/25 to Amos's Bow, and then I finally got Mavuika's weapon.

So definitely no Arleccino pulls for me, I've got nothing left lol. Now I'm probably going to be saving until Skirk.

so outside of daily commissions and quest rewards what are the best ways to farm up more primogems as a fairly new player? like anything specific I should do to optimize, or just play quests and do exploration?

Quests, chests, daily commissions, and the timed events that come with the patch. Those are the only (free) sources of them. Including the events and new exploration areas, I think we typically gets around 10000 free primogems per version update.

Depending on the type of player you fall into, try to plan your rolls. Not every banner needs you to roll for it (though the game strongly makes you want to because that's how it's making its cash!)

As a none paying player (some of the peeps here have the battle pass to get extra and I think some also purchase extra?) I roll with the intent on getting the banner character, so that's typically 16000 primos (usually less depending on how quick you hit the counter, I think it kicks in at 60-80 wishes, but I like to bank 100 wishes). Don't just randomly throw rolls at the banner when you have primos saved up. I also typically only roll for people that either looks nice, or is fun to play. In this particular patch, Mavuika ticks this box. In the previous banners I skipped a lot of the characters as though some of them look pleasing, the gameplay didn't suit me or my team so I decided to let it go.

There are exceptions, of course (i.e. Neuv). For most part, while not ideal.

Check your Adventurer Book/Guide - there's some wish orbs as a reward for doing MSQ
Additionally, check your achievements log, every achievement earned is like 5-10 primogems which you can claim

General question but does character quests (unlocked with those keys earned from dailies) give Primos? I've not done a single one because sitting through basic text/dialogue is annoying as it is without being able to skip.

Character stories do give a few primogems. Recently they've started offering extra primos if you clear the new character's story quest in the patch it releases in.
