Darius Slay is saying the wronnnnggggggg shit just before entering Brazil.
sao paulo ain't exactly safe but neither is philly so he should probably chill out
Its one of very few places in the World my company will not allow us to go. If we absolutely have to, it requires armed guards, we cannot leave the hotel, and our kidnapping insurance has to be increased to the highest level.
I seriously doubt any of the players for either team are leaving their hotel outside of official activities
definitely not. the team would never allow it.
just imagine the shit storm of a player getting kidnapped for ransom
Correct, one of the things he is complaining about is "getting sent to a country where we are told we cannot leave the hotel".
Edit: BTW I totally agree with him. He should be mad about going there. He should absolutely not allow his family to go there, as he said he will not. etc. The NFL is stupid for playing this game there. He also should shut his trap and get it over with.
soccer players go through this shit all the time. it's part of making hundreds of millions, and making the sport even more global so their future peers can make even more hundreds of millions
Plenty of better places to go. Target places that can actually afford what it costs to play football.
NFL doesn't give a shit about these countries playing American football, they just want people to buy merch and watch it on TV
yeah there's 200+ million people in brazil they want to convert into hardcore fans. has nothing to do with playing the sport, the fuck does the nfl care about that. shits about draft kings and fanduel
There is definitely a correlation with how much a country plays a sport to how much they watch it professionally. Soccer is cheap, anyone can play it. Hugely popular, especially in smaller countries. Canada. They all play hockey. They all watch hockey. They don't play football. They can watch the NFL. They don't really care about it. Our most popular children's and amateur sports are our most popular ones to watch professionally.
If your country can't or isn't able to play the sport, it's probably not going to blow up on TV.
Ah yes, the country with one of the highest % of its population living in extreme poverty is worried about sports gambling adoption and selling merch/tv subscriptions.
Most all of those ppl are happy to get food on a daily basis. This is simply stupid and they have much better audiences they should have prioritized.
If they already have a strong fanbase there, even better reason to select another location.
remind me never to invite any of you into a strategic planning analysis meeting
If I need to sell gambling apps to the extreme poor, you'll be the first invited. Cannot wait to spend more on that API than the total we get from $1 gambling bets.
I mean, that's less than 10% of Brazil's population. Compared to the 37% of adults in the US who consider themselves soccer fans. Man, the MLS must KILLING it if Brazil's 10% is raking in the dough.
For every 1 NFL fan in Mexico, there are 3 fans of the Mexican National Soccer team...living in the United States alone.
Season predictions (sorry, busy as fuck)
MVP - Could see Stroud maybe
Offensive Player of the Year - AR St. Brown
Defensive Player of the Year - Aiden Hutchinson
Offensive Rookie of the Year - Caleb Williams
Defensive Rookie of the Year - Cole Bishop? Hopefully the Bills don't die this year.
Comeback Player of the Year - Josh Allen
Coach of the Year - *maybe* Campbell if he gets his shit together.
Division winners:
AFC East - Dolphins
AFC North - Ravens
AFC South - Texans
AFC West - Chiefs
Wildcard teams: Bengals, Bills, Steelers OR Raiders
NFC East - Cowboys
NFC North - Lions
NFC South - Tampa
NFC West - San Francisco
Wildcard teams: Eagles OR Rams, Green Bay, Bears
AFC Championship: Chiefs v. Bengals
NFC Championship: Detroit v. San Francisco
Superbowl champion: Chiefs over Detroit
Week 1:
Thursday, Sep. 5
Baltimore v. Chiefs: This is going to be a close game, with our offense dominating but defense trying to find its rhythm. If we win, it'll be because of Butker and our defense finding its rhythm early, otherwise I think Baltimore edges out here.
Friday, Sep. 6
Green Bay vs. Philly: I think Green Bay will surprise people this year and start off on a good foot. Philly is done and it may be rough getting the band back together. Another close game, possibly, with Green Bay taking the game.
Sunday, Sep. 8
Steelers are probably going to wreck the Falcons.
Bills and Cards - Josh Allen will abuse Dalton Kincaid and hope his defense can keep the game alive. I do think they'll turn out a victory but I think their season might barely come together later while they inevitably fall to better teams with less injuries.
Titans and DaBears - I can see Chicago coming out on top just because of CW being the next Cool Joe. Titans just don't have it right now, but we'll see.
Pats vs Cats - Joe is going to be back with a vengeance and unless he injures himself again will make short work of a crippled Pats team.
Texans vs Colts - lol Stroud and co are going to bury the Colts, who might have a solid offense but ultimately are going to fall to the stronger team.
Florida A vs Florida B - be real. The Jags are done and the Dolphins have two more years out of Tyreek. Miami is going to churn out a win here unless the Jags do what they do and injure people.
Panthers vs Saints - Saints are going to take this one.
Vikings vs Jersey - Giants are not winning this unless Minnesota shits the bed. It's Darnold, so who knows.
Raiders vs. Chargers - LA has this. Raiders could surprise me but their defense is the only good thing they have right now.
Broncos vs. Seahawks - I think Denver could win this.
Cowboys vs Browns - I do think the Cowboys will eek out a win here.
Commies vs TB - Tampa.
Rams vs Lions - Lions are going to start off strong and try to taste flesh now that they've tasted blood. I think they are challenged but not beaten by the Rams.
Jets vs 49ers - nah sorry the 49ers will NOT lose this game unless their new DC is incompetent. Hopefully AR doesn't tear his other heel carrying the flag out.
