EP1: I wasn't sure if this was a prequel or not. Most evident was that obviously Dante didn't have his sword and was playing DMC2 for the episode. The Vice Present being religious is a huge red flag. I bet he becomes the actual villain later lol
EP2: I still wasn't sure where this was going but the animations and fight scenes were alright. Then Lady shows up and very quickly goes against what's established in DMC3, so I can safely and quickly assume this is DMC3 the anime take 2. Also I missed it but where did the sword come from lol, I need to rewatch. But this all explains Dante's inexperienced and childish personality
EP3: Still wasn't sure where this might go. But I quickly didn't care and got excited for the whole series. Our antagonist shows up again and not only that, brings a representation of each of the game's bosses with him as his henchmen!!!
Plasma from 1! Ok technically wasn't a boss but hey it works, but differently
Agni AND Rudra from 3! Their interactions were great whenever they spoke
Viper from 4! Her size seems to be as big as she needs to be though so I thought that was kind of funny when I see her in different scenes
Cavaliere from 5!
Each with their own personality!
I didn't expect Dante to start fighting them on the motor(high)way but they went for it and it was great. Dante also started pulling out Cavaliere style moves from 5 with his bike. At this point I didn't mind anything anymore and the fun really started
I am convinced that the antagonist is Vergil, Rabbit-kun is displaying some good swordsmanship here and he has the other half the stone
EP4: This was a unique episode. We have Dante fighting close quarters (where was the plane going?) and Lady in a Resident Evil level. The tone, mood and feeling immediately changes when Lady is in frame for this episode. I wondered if the series would keep Lady's team on and this episode says nope and slaughters them.
Due to what Lady sees in the building and her stance shifting a bit it was nice to see the development
EP5: Devil Trigger revealed!!! WITH DMC5 SONG but remixed, I hope they play the entire thing though. I like the look but I wasn't sure what to make of the form. It looks onpoint but in its own way, unlike any of the forms in the games. But the design, feel, look and everything is all overall represented well.
EP6: Holy moly what an episode. It's a very nearly silent episode. Very good animation and drawing that's all very different to the main series. The music used was nice. But I was sad to learn the rabbit wasn't Vergil as I was really hoping he was since he exhibited super strength and good swordsmanship in EP2. But where did the stone come from?
EP7: VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL VERGIL (AS NELO ANGELO). So as it stands DMC3 is now fused with DMC1 in terms of plot elements
Calavliere remains. I HOPE THERE IS AN EPIC 1V1 HERE THERE NEEDS TO BE THERE'S NO REASON FOR HIM TO BE ALIVE LAST OTHERWISE
LADY'S SIGNATURE WEAPON APPEARS WOOOO! lol
Sorry, good shit hype here. As Takiwaki said, it's fun.
Fight was alight. Not as epic as I hoped. Vice President is back.
EP8: Too much going on for a final episode I was dubious in how it would wrap up but it's alright, a bit weak. If anything, Vergil where
Having Lady say jackpot though was great lol but the final fight was too anticlimatic for what it was. Devil Trigger Dante got more screen time during the middle of the anime than the finale.
The ending is a bit fucked though also interesting in its own way. We got Dante being put into stasis and we got the demon world being utterly fucked by humans and even having a base established there.
I don't know who the Vice President was with/looking at at the end scene though, the guy in a cloak/cape. Vergil showing up as the "hero" is an interesting take and the ending was fucking BADASS (the line, the song blend in, FUCK!!!! WHY END HERE!!!!) This is great now that he showed his real self because we can skip all the possible bullshit of why he looked like Nelo Angelo.
This direction is good. We don't need to worry about the games and it works as it is with a different take on the story.
