I was 100% expecting some kind of link into this with the way it was emphasized how dangerous it was. I kept waiting for the Patrick Stewart/Ian McKellen cameo up to the post-credit scene lol

I was starting to think they were setting it up to be a subplot in Doomsday. Especially with the noticeable absent of Spider-Man and Hulk in the trailer.

Question for the ending.

What's everyone's take with Ned seemingly remembering Peter? At first, I thought it was just him putting together that MJ called Spidey Peter, but girlfriend brought up that maybe Jean implanted some memories in Ned and MJ as a thankyou. Certainly possible, she showed she knew their history (yay Night Monkey). Thinking on it more though, maybe Ned had some degree of resistance to the spell since No Way Home showed he had some degree of magical ability and the act of doing their handshake unlocked his memories.

Outside of that, my only gripes were the mutation largely being handwaved and just being a mild inconvenience for much of the movie and the Punisher just being out and about with no one raising a fuss or any concerns. MJ didn't even know who he was somehow. :X Then after Jean's attack on Damage Control headquarters, he's just chilling amongst them after Jean is captured and allowed to walk free with no issue. Then of course, not much mentioned beyond Peter and Frank saying sorry/no sorry needed regarding Frank being the cause for Spidey to get shot. Just felt a bit hollow and felt like the Punisher was a no-body at this point, but I absolutely loved his banter with Peter and their interactions. I was wondering how they'd sell Punisher shooting at the Hulk and I bought it, Peter even pointed out how out of his league he was.

Pretty A+ all around IMO, there's some minor gripes and questions, but overall, they really hit it home I think.

In regards to the ending

The way the spell worked in the comics was that once someone was able to remember that Peter Parker and Spider-Man are the same person, all the associated memories got restored. While it didn't work that way with MJ, I just assume that's what they were going for.

I thought the ending insinuated both MJ and Ned regained their memories. MJ with the necklace piece Peter gave her in one of the previous movies, and Ned obviously with the handshake.

They haven't really specified the rules of the spell in the context of the MCU. The comic version specifically required Spider-Man having to unmask in front of someone to break the spell

Aside, I did like that they kinda teased the Hulk remembering who Peter is, but not Banner. Was a fun loophole in the comics
