OKC is one good team. they were a p good team last year and a year of maturation for Jalen-Chet-Shai have made them all more complete players and Caruso/Hartenstein were key roleplaying pieces exactly addressing the weaknesses that got them blown up by Dallas.

called it after Denver, that was their hardest matchup and they be yuge title favorites with what's left of the field. Pacers playin their best ball of the year but their offense is feasting on Brunson and Kat mismatches and those don't exist with OKC.

Minny is solid and have a good identity but Randle will never be the #2 option for a championship team. he isn't good enough offensively and is a deeply flawed defender with little to no rim protection. back-to-back WCFs but idk how much further the team can go without more talent.

This stat that KAT and Jalen are the first teammates to both score 20+ throughout five playoff games of a series since Kobe and Shaq is crazy (and only third to West and Baylor).

I would have thought that KD and Steph, Russ and KD, Bron and Wade, Bron and Kyrie, Bron and AD, etc. would have done it.

I'm also surprised at some duos from before Kobe and Shaq not making it either. But with scoring inflation it should certainly favor recency.

New York is interesting in that they have two elite do-everything perimeter defenders and a scrapper in Hart (who has gotten burned on a ton of back-cuts this series tbf), and Thibs has all 5 starters disciplined re rotations and armed knowing their assignments well. but the Pacers have been able to push the tempo + rock enough offensive movement that Kat and Brunson are being asked to make reads in space on the fly, which they are both terrible at, and Anunoby / Bridges / Hart can't cover their blunders, even making mistakes themselves with the hellfire pace.

things ain't get much better next series with OKC having an even faster pace than the Pacers, forcing those quick reads, pick up in open court and rotate to new assignments/openings that the Knicks (5th lowest pace in the league and designed to play that way) are struggling so much with.

as you say a team constructed with Boston in mind, who rocked the lowest pace in the league and feature a ton of iso ball out of their wing stars whom Bridges and Anunoby are built to counter. tonight you saw it come together and what the Pacers looked like with no transition attack throwing themselves into the teeth of New York's set defense over and over. but if they can't force that kind of grinding pace having very poor defenders at both the point of attack and the last line of defense is a lot for any team to overcome.

but then Brunson and Kat are shooting 50%+ and combining for 60 points a game so solving about as many problems on offense as they cause on defense.
