While we're slinging blame. Let's get the media in on it too because they have enabled this shitstain since 2016.

I wholeheartedly believe the Dems are braindead/tone-deaf enough to run Newsom in 2028

The only way they have a chance in 2028, if there's even an election then, is if the economy craters and they nominate a popular swing state guy like Beshear or Shapiro.

They won't do that though. Nobody in the DNC is capable of self reflection.

Putting out a candidate that no one voted for seems like the opposite of fucking it up. The right was memeing about how much it was going to backfire and uh, maybe it wasn't a meme after all since 15 million+ people just didn't bother to show up compared to 2020

This is the correct answer. The average American is struggling like everyone else. Doesn't matter if they are "dumb" or educated. They looked at a person who has been xenophobic, racist, sexist, transphobic and an epic shit stirrer and said he's the guy on Round 2 because the other party can't get their act together on what matters to them (the economy; "being broke").

Nothing will get better for the large majority of people who voted for him either because they also fail to look in the mirror. The nation is built on wasteful spending and consumerism, and that applies down the line on both sides of the isle.

def a huge mistake in retrospect for Joe to hang on so long and not allow a primary process / grooming of Kamala to take the wheel / great damage done to Democratic optics with his clear cognitive decline (especially in the debate), but 2020 was a turnout aberration with COVID having a lot of people sitting around / worried in a way they wouldn't otherwise be

turns out that 67% turnout (highest since 1900) didn't actually indicate a continued greater engagement with politics it indicated people being bored

Control of the House is going to be razor thin. Really hope the late California ballots are more Democratic, could swing like 4 races and the entire chamber.

He could have dropped out and done the "1 term" like he mentioned and she could have had a lot more time to showcase herself and combat the false narrative that she as a VP somehow could put bills and things into action like the right was saying.

DNC did fuck us, they dropped the ball again and again. I mean fuck they had stopped the one Palestinian speaker from speaking at the conference which would have been at least a little bump for them. That speaker speaking wasn't going to suddenly make all of the right wing jews vote....more red?

It's been nice chatting with you BG. In a couple years I fully expect most of us will be in prison camps.

    You can't seriously believe that.

And if you do you need to spend way way way less time on the internet.

I don't expect there to be prison camps or re-education camps in our lifetime.

Take Americans too long to build.... unless we make the immigrants do it before we deport them.

We've done it before, we'll do it again.

catastrophic social context in which to run elections. isn't policy, or honest differences over how to resolve a recognized issue, but alternate false realities being established and maintained by toxic information environments. perhaps the logical end point of Foxen partisanship meeting social media's curated insulation.

tho not terribly surprising as, what, 80% of Republicans think the 2020 election was stolen. a political movement undergird by a denial of reality.

With that being said, how do you think Democrats can be effective going forward?

As much as it's true, just simply telling the voter base to shut up and fall in line isn't getting it done.

the only thing that will save this country is republicans actually fucking everything up so bad people actually take notice

    sorry im extra mad today
And some here would call me the tankie.

But I get it, they've surpassed the fuck around stage, so let them reap their find out... which they'll still blame the left about, of course.

As for what Dems could do, oh, I dunno, maybe take all those "actually popular leftists policies" and run with them with the actual sincerity to implement and making it abundantly clear when the right fucks us. The feeling that parts of the nation has that they've done nothing for them goes beyond groceries, gas, or being persnickity about vibeflation. I know I vent about being a lefty in Ohio a lot, but it really is a behind enemy lines situation where this outcome is no surprise to me at all. The Dems do need to change. And quickly. And not by becoming the GOP of 40 years ago. Taking advantage of the GOP incompetence is the only path forward at this point, but when it turns out you can't even defeat the most inept motherfucker in the history of politics without a plague backing you up, maybe it's time for a new playbook and new blood.

As I posted back on 5/31/23, we needed to primary Biden just to get meme replies or more status quo shilling. Cries for unity are fucking pointless without faith and you can't say someone has faith at 34% approval rating, ignorantly harvested or not. Like before, we would've learned Kamala was a political steaming pile and the usual we're not ready for a (black) woman president because so many issues are baked into the US' DNA. Who would've risen in her place? No clue, but it would've been chosen rather than defaulted. Assuming the DNC didn't do their usual backdoor kingmaking. Repeating commentary about the Dem's failure to cultivate younger candidates who may very well understand things like social media and present a counter to shitlords like Rogan or Asmongold is also a pressing issue.

Welcome to chasing the lesser evil. Seriously, listen to some of you fuckers saying we need to lie more.
