I'm pretty sure you aren't serious but hysterical comes from the same root as hysterectomy (hystera, womb in Greek), because it was a term used pseudo-scientifically to describe women who be crazy and one of the solutions for it was to take out the uterus in the old timey insane asylums.

Languages evolve etc. but it references a pretty dark time in your field's history in a gendered way.
