ford and gm will have their supplies tariffed half a dozen times going back and forth across the border

once for the iron going to america
once for the iron to head to canada and for the steel to be made
once for the steel to be sent to their plants in the states to make the parts
once for those parts to be assembled in their canadian plants
and once again if that car is being sold in america

all of the above is how both ford and gm operate

Teslas sold in America are mostly built in America, so they are only hurt if they use non-American steel or aluminum. The ones built in China or Europe for those markets don't have to worry about US tariffs.

I did not realize they made the Model 3/S in Freemont.

Not sure which Toyota models are being built in the US now. I think the Kentucky plant was doing Ravs but I think a lot of the Corolla production has moved to Mexico. They used to make the Corolla here in Kitchener/Cambridge but it's strictly a Lexus NX/RX production line now, and the Rav still gets made in Woodstock I think.

Indiana builds a billion highlanders a year. My mom works for them. Tundras also built in US. Ravs and Camrys here in KY as well.

It's a fuckton of vehicles. With a lot of imported parts.

This is correct, so if Trump goes though his 25% tariffs on all Canadian products in March, then Canadian steel and Aluminum would be at 25% + 25% = 50%.

It was a response to Rhyis referencing multiple car companies being affected, but leaving out one of the larger producers of Vehicles in America that will be significantly affected, because they use so many imported parts. It was just bad timing you posted that picture right before I posted.

I'm interested to see how much the steel tariffs effect the gun barrel manufacturing company I work for. We source our steel domestically, but there's no reason to believe that prices will stay the same once the increases on the imported stuff settle in. American firearm manufacturing and sale laws require that a certain percentage of each gun sold here (as imported or domestic weapons) be manufactured in America, and one really easy way to do that is to source the barrels here, so I'm sure we'll be ok, but we very well may need to raise prices ourselves.

Speaking of which, we still haven't moved far enough left around here to get our guns back, have we?

Honestly though all of this shit isn't purely coming from Trump it's all coming from Elon and you can tell he has his hand so far up the Orange Muppets Ass in the way he's become so obvious in his targets. In every single case of imported goods having a price increase due to tariffs domestic manufacturers raise their prices to the exact same price level the imported goods or just a smidge lower.
