I'm sorry dude. My sister is getting hit with this round. They get grants from the NIH for VA mental health and the whole system is basically turned off. They're still working but are anticipating the program getting pogrom'd in the next few days. She's incredibly frightened and it doesn't help that her neighbors are basically celebrating. Gotta love Louisiana.
Gonna see the vet suicide rate skyrocket (again) once these resources disappear (again).
Also have a TON of friends at HUD from my time working in the mortgage finance world. They're all full fucking panicking too.
I am having a very hard time separating my own career needs from wanting to help and do literally anything. What a terrible year this is.
Can't say they didn't know it was coming.
But I thought the judges were going to save me! The courts. The laws. The rules!
If the media truly cared about these issues, it would take a lesson from the right-wing media playbook. Instead of covering every move Trump or Elon makes—playing into their strategy of media saturation—it should focus on the real-world consequences. Rather than amplifying the source, highlight the impact: farms shutting down, workers losing their jobs and the roles they played in the country, trade professionals facing soaring costs, home developers struggling with price hikes, and so on. People will naturally connect the dots. But, of course, the "Trump show" drives ratings, so the media sticks to the spectacle.
My wife is contractor for EPA we are just waiting for the EPA targetting basically, such a cool time to be alive
Such as how pissed off Central Californian farmers are at Trump ordering the Army Corps of Engineers to release more than 2 billion gallons of water from reservoirs for no reason but performative "I'm helping extinguish the So Cal fires" when the farmers need that water storage for the dry months.
The water release did absolutely nothing but flood some areas that didn't need the water right now.
JUSTICE. SYSTEM.
I was wondering why this hadn't started yet. Talked to an EPA friend last night and she guessed it was because environmental groups are so litigious that 1) the EPA is already mired deep in ten thousand court cases and 2) as soon as anything changes there the number will triple.
They definitely will do it but who knows when
Yes how wrong I was about *checks notes* The courts not stopping something that is totally within the power of the executive. Oh wait I never said that.
RFK confirmed for HHS
party line vote except for one republican: mitch mcconnell, who now probably knows he’s as good as dead
Trump understands pro wrestling and McConnell is obviously a heel. He's going to be fine.
someone please tell me we're gonna make it
About the mass firings.
I wish we could go around DC planting big signs that say, "YOU VOTED FOR THIS!" and near other government offices around the country.

Friend in Dept of Energy deployed with navy since he's a reservist. Found out today that his name was struck off the list of employees by OMB while being deployed which is wildly illegal lol so that's super cool.
