Hearing and reading a lot about nursing during this administration change. Specifically, VA nurses, who comprise of the largest group of federal employees.

Around 80% of VA facilities were understaffed prior to any changes under Trump. Those nurses were offered the severance pay, which many took because...well...they're nurses and can either double dip income or take a months long vacation and get a job immediately when the severance pay dries up.

Now, they've apparently told any probationary employees (staff under 2 years of seniority) that they will be let go. I've heard multiple stories of friends moving within the last year and then being told they're out of work. One person had just accepted an offer, moved, then had it rescinded before they ever started.

I'm skeptical how much of this is true. I'm sure some of it is. But the VA would absolutely crumble under the weight of 10% or more of their nursing staff leaving.
