Turns out eggs being expensive actually does factor in when your party doesn't do enough to help out the working class and what you do do for them, you snidely tell them about it in a condescending way. Like the Jon Stewart interview, telling these people to just pack up and move to the city and they will be part of the middle class and get tech jobs is fucking hilarious. Half these people have no desire to move away from their home because family/friends etc (also some of these places are fucking gorgeous and I get not wanting to leave, I loved upstate NY in terms of trees/mountains and shit) and just want to be able to feed themselves and their family without worrying (and yes it's more an issue with the CEOs and GoP fucking these people over but Dems haven't really done much to combat that and then drive the message home)

i was talking to a friend of mine last night about it. biden admin spent too much time not addressing inflation, then when things began settling down, they were consistently throwing data in people's faces and being like "lOoK aT thE nUmBerS!!!": it's basically gaslighting (i told her i named it bidenlighting, i'm so smart) - and what people tragically tend to not realize in modern society that psychological pain is REAL pain, and fear and anxiety feed into that, regardless of truth and reality.

a week after the election i listened to the podcast episode i'm linking below, and i found it to be one of the most insightful things on psychology and why people get all sorts of fucked up with misinformation and why they cling to identities that may be based off of lies.

the basic idea is that when people get stressed, their logic circuits get fried. and what causes them to get stressed? fear and uncertainty of course, but particularly the inability to explain what's going in front of them. you know what really gets them to that point? someone who makes them feel like they're questioning their reality, which is the feeling of being gaslit. and you know what helps people mitigate that stress and better? an easily digestible message from a person who says they will fix that, regardless of whether it's a lie or not. (btw, i'd also add that i'd say liberals are pretty fucking skilled at being condescending, and that's yet another thing that further stresses people out)

anyway, i feel like this thing here as well as the jon stewart/sarah smarsh podcast were two tremendous watches/listens, for anyone looking to get a better view of how we got here, and perhaps what may be done to reel things back. i mean if it were up to me, i'd be getting these two people up in the grills of dem leaders and strategists, to try and get them to see what's been missing in their approach.

i got this idea from the thing i'm linking below, and the premise is that

You must admit, even if you tried to pick worse people, you couldn't. It's impressive.

I mean it's all over the economy thread here too, like yes we all know the actual economy is doing well and trending up...but people are still fucking struggling to pay rent and buy groceries even if wages have gone up and even if the math "checks out" and telling these people "well the numbers say different" as they fail to make rent and get evicted doesn't suddenly make them go "hmm yeah, 4 more years of this please!". Then telling these people "Well he's a fucking nazi!" while immediately doing a 180 and sucking on this balls or shaking his hand after the fact....wow yeah sure looks like it was super serious for you too!

GoP are at least good at pretending they're not all mcmillionaires looking down at the poors from their ivory castle and laughing as they gobble up the wealth.

Therein lies the problem. Republicans sound alarm bells and act on them. Democrats sound alarm bells then go back to business as usual.

In the simplest terms, it's more profitable to provide care, than cure.

The military industrial complex wants there to always be war for profit. The medical industrial complex wants you sick and unhealthy, eating garbage and being generally unhealthy but alive enough to keep paying.

Not to be overly tinfoily but yes. They're all colluding to extract as much money as possible... that's the game. It really shouldn't be a revelation, they're all in it for profit. When goals align they work together.

There isn't some group of demons or whatever secretly trying to milk us for adrenochrome or that silly shit. It's just a group of unscrupulous monsters doing anything and everything for money, and the people who are supposed to protect us from it are paid to look the other way.
