I wonder how high that percentage goes when you consider which items are made in the USA using materials from China? The issue is that the tariffs hit Mexico and China so a lot of companies won't even have an avenue to circumvent them. Stuff made in china and assembled in Mexico will still be hit.

These people are fucking horrible at their jobs haha "We sucked, but instead of losing by 20% we only lost by 15%..that's much better!". Shit is hilarious and how they don't seem to have learned a fucking thing at all. We had so much $$ and we spent it all on "shift to the right and tell people we'll be just like Biden, who's approvals were at a insane low. Also tell people 'nah economy good bro'"

I mean what could you possibly tell these people about the economy? It's obvious the average voter is too stupid to understand these things so they threw the entire country under the bus because they had to pay an extra 2 bucks for eggs.

Could have been more done much earlier on when corporations were price hiking the living shit out of everything because "supply chain issues" and then "lol cuz we can fuck you". What was done wasn't really messaged properly. Harris's messaging was more "economy is good, look at the charts!" and less "corporations are fucking horrible, that's why you're still paying $2 more for eggs", which is what she started off with and it got some steam but then quickly went away as she got Cuban and Zillow CEO in her corner that told her to cool her jets.

Also "We can't break norms, the VP has to stand by the prez"....fucking break the norms you fuckers, people don't like the norms.

People struggling and GoP was like "It's the economy, Biden caused it " and the Dems response was "lol nah, charts say it's getting better!" without any further addressing of the actual issues (rent and groceries being crazy high in a lot of the country).

They also wanted to focus on "What would a 2nd term of Trump mean" with hypotheticals instead of pushing on what his 1st term did to the country, which i'll never understand. GoP deflected all "He'll do this, and that and this" by just doing their typical "lol nah bro". At least do a shit ton of messaging around how horrible he was during COVID and other major failures of his 1st term besides Jan 6th.

watching someone comment on this vid and point out to just attack them on the subject of economy by saying "You're saying it's all the trans, woke immigrants. Didn't realize all CEOs are immigrants, didn't realize all landlords are immigrants, etc etc". Come out for medicare for all and watch the GoP flounder trying to explain to their base why that's a bad idea and socialist and dig themselves into a hole. Same for corp taxes and other shit while also having policies in place to help circumstances of the economy and other issues

"I shouldn't have to pay for someone else's XYZ!" is basically the GOP response to a lot of issues even if you explain that in this particular case universal healthcare would be cheaper than private plans monthly. Economic ignorance aside, it's just an extension of their frequent lack of empathy. They can't grasp a healthier country is better. It's GOP kryptonite for the country to be educated, thus everything they do to hamstring that.

Part of me wants to see them get their wish and income tax is eliminated. You're not gonna be keeping infrastructure going on lottery tickets and cigarette sales. And fuck making every road tolled. Nevermind other social safety nets evaporating. I can understand the sentiment of being unhappy with the government when it's not helping people as it should, but the answer isn't to immolate governance. Er, my bad, "drain the swamp".

Gray just squeaked ahead and is expected to hold on. Going to be officially 220-215 House, but GOP resignations will make it even narrower for a few months at least.

I’ll never forget the look on our contractor’s face during the time of the $20k loan relief discussions. We had been planning a $35k renovation for our home — designs finalized, materials chosen, every detail mapped out. But we made it clear we wouldn’t start until we knew for certain that loan relief was coming through. When the program fell through, we had no choice but to cancel the project.

When the contractor asked why we were backing out, I explained, “Because the loan relief didn’t happen. Now that money is tied up in monthly loan payments instead of funding renovations.”

It’s always interesting to hear people say, “I didn’t go to college, so that doesn’t benefit me.” What they don’t realize is that when middle-class families get some financial breathing room, we often put that money back into the economy. And who benefits? Local workers—contractors, handymen, and small business owners. New floors, updated bathrooms, home extensions — those are the kinds of projects we dream of but can’t justify when we’re already paying $2,000 a month in student loans.

yeah it turns being entirely selfish and only concerned with policies that you deem to directly affect your own well-being doesn't work out in the long run, and - as Paul Wellstone said - "when we all do better, we all do better."

We need to educate people on why relief is better for the economy and why modern inflation is really just corporate money grab.

it's fine because in fact, we're gonna continue to crush our education and stew in our tech bro-led dipshittedness. we'll even export it to all corners of the world

That's true, but usually the healthcare is framed as "Obamacare? Yay or Nay?" but when it's framed as the ACA or context given it's completely different.

    https://www.kff.org/affordable-care-...able-care-act/

And the GoP can counter against it but it's better to keep them on the backfoot and explaining why your elderly mom shouldn't have healthcare/social security and why you should go bankrupt for an ambulance ride, or why you SHOULD actually be paying $2000+ for rent while your make minimum wage. etc etc. I think Kamala and team did a good job initially out the gate with this, and countering the "WOKE TRANS!" with just "That's weird" messaging...but then lost that steam and momentum. Part of the reason probably having Biden's fucking staff working for her.

You could start by just educating people in general. Half the country reads below a 6th grade level. 1/5th are below 3rd grade.

The Donald has picked a rich white guy who is one of his top donors to be the Secretary of the Navy.

Never served in the Navy. No military experience.

That's not some weird outlier to be fair. About a quarter of them over the last 70 years haven't had any military experience.

well it's been 15 years and a half dozen Secretaries since we had one that didn't serve, and that guy was a PhD in physics who spent his private career running an aerospace tech company + doing advanced research projects / running space systems contracts for the government before heading Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems division. kind of the perfect private sector experience for managing a fiefdom in Washington's military-industrial bureaucratic morass.

Trump's nominee uh runs a private investment firm and threw a fundraiser for him
