This hasn't changed in the 25 years Ive been in IT. There's plenty of talent, companies just want to pay as little as possible. H1Bs have always been about control. You can beat up resident applicants/employees with the threat of H1Bs so they take a lower starting wage, shitty raise, or longer hours. H1Bs get told they have to work shitloads of hours for less than residents or they get deported. Both get played off each other so employers can cut costs. I'd be surprised if it was any different for engineering talent.

Fuck H1Bs, it's always been a bullshit solution to a self imposed 'problem'.

Cartel limiting supply? Dude, tell me you don't know what you're talking about without telling me.

Training doctors is not limited by medical school admissions and it's a constant perpetuated myth designed to funnel money into schools for administrators to ream students and absolve responsibility when they can't match into a residency program.

It's limited by funding for institutions to train them. There's two sources, usually, VA Government or Medicare. There are very few private accredited programs compared to public programs.

We also take THOUSANDS of international doctors every year with the only barrier being they have to meet US licensing requirements (board certification). Many international medical programs are much what you describe - and fraught with analytical "interpretation" without much critical thinking, so when they come practice here actual clinical harm is done because the bar for passing board exams is quite low compared to the breadth you're required to learn and know.

There is so much variation in training and knowledge that I've seen students and even low quality nurse practitioners have more medical skill than some international doctors who train here.

So what are you talking about?

The AMA sets residency caps, and lobbied for the federal funding restrictions you are blaming for the bottleneck. They are the cartel, they limit entries into the profession on purpose to keep the supply low and the wages high.

They also lobby hard to maintain scope of practice laws requiring only doctors perform certain care that could easily be provided cheaper by NPs or nurses.

That's the cartel I'm talking about.

Archi is generally correct about this. The AMA is a cartel and very little of the US medical training system is oriented towards getting good outcomes. It is basically all about limiting supply and you will find professional doctor organization lobbying dollars behind every policy that limits supply.

The AMA doesn't do shit for anyone and nobody listens to them.

Institutions set their residency caps depending on available funds, and there are several ways this gets distributed. They may set guidelines but generally people tend to not follow them where possible.

Residency positions also increase every year. In fact, some go unfilled every year for various reasons.

Sometimes, people just aren't good fits. It shouldn't be that way, but it's not the AMA doing it.

Edit: and believe me the average NP or PA is not fucking Tyche dude. Cheaper doesn't mean better but supposing such blows any argument for HB1 out the fucking water because the result is the same: spending less money on care provided by people who don't have the same scope or education.

You can call it lobbying to "protect doctors" but it's literally trying to protect patients from mediocre care. It isn't a perfect system, but I've seen a lot of shitty care that no amount of residency spots or NP training is going to fix.

Driver is dead, loaded the truck with fireworks. Also seeing reports of at least 7 injured from the blast.

Supposedly both the electric F-150 Lightning used in the New Orleans attack and this Cybertruck were both rented on the p2p car rental website Turo

Oh wow, sucks for those people listing on the app. I rented a Porsche from Turo when I visited their race track in Atlanta a few years ago. Great experience with the app and rental.

Stainless steel armor so strong it can't even stop a low caliber hand gun bullet.

Lovely narrative but it looks like it blew out the windows and then flew apart at the rivets like anyone would expect. Did it even do damage to the casino?

Was the Trump casino right? I mean couldn't have done any more damage to it then was already being done by management

It didn't even shatter the glass doors to the lobby, which is consistent with what Musk and investigators are saying (the blast was contained by the body and the shockwave directed upwards). Elon's a dipshit but his engineers aren't.

I mean the cybertruck is poorly engineered for a bunch of other reasons, but the logic of the tweet is sound in the respect that you want a grenade's shell to be weak enough to shatter.
