My coworkers are largely liberal, a couple are non-political and don't vote. We've had light discussions on certain topics. Many of them have someone in their family that is affected by the healthcare restrictions. It can get heated based on that alone.

Far too many humans only change their behavior when they themselves are inconvenienced or punished for their behavior. They literally can not fathom repercussions for their behavior until it literally happens to them. I am convinced many of these MAGAts will one day change their tune, but only after they get negatively impacted by Trump and his policies.

That's why they won't care about things like deportations...until their produce prices skyrocket and then they'll start wondering why we deported the good illegals making food cheap and not the bad ones bringing fentanyl into the country.

I don’t think it’ll ever get close to what it is now. Trump IS maga. It’s 100% a cult of personality and the second he’s dead nobody is ever going to recreate it quite to his degree, rather he endorsed them or not in life.

Doesn’t mean all these dumb racist fucks disappear overnight, those idiots will still exist and we’ll have to live with the fact we’re surrounded by people who will lovingly embrace a racist fascist rapist as long as he makes very obvious fake promises and/or encourages their hateful natures… I’m just rather convinced once he’s out of the picture they’ll have a very very hard time keeping “MAGA” going anywhere near as strong as it is now.

My family refuses to talk about anything political because they either don't want to be called stupid, think others are the stupid ones, think that the media over exaggerates the severity of what is happening, think that all the hate on Trump is heresy, and, whether they agree with his policies or not, think that either the Democrats would do the same/worse given the chance or that "someone will stop him something something checks and balances".

I work from home and my wife agrees with me, so I guess that is 100% of my coworkers.

On a more serious note, we don't discuss politics at all on work calls because ~100% of us are much more liberal than the average countryman and it is unprofessional to engage in fractious "are you liberal enough to pass my arbitrary bar" or depressing "did you see the news" discussions. At work, we are all just politically agnostic, highly educated urban professionals who live in electorally unimportant states.

I'm still basically checked out of the news, not even reading all the posts here. Feels good TBF. I aspire to be a low information voter for a few years.

Canuck here, but the ripple effect is real. Work solely with my wife in a warehouse, our politics are pretty much the same, so not much gets said other than "Donnie dipshit doing donnie dipshit stuff again." with every EO.
Have heard the entire spectrum of reactions from drivers/customers from "WTF IS HE DOING?!" to "We need a leader like that to take back Canada" to "Biden and Fauci will be in jail in February."
It's also unreal how comfortable people are with just spouting racist shit now as if it's like "Our older brother made it cool to hate everything, so we're gonna do it too"
