Hackman's death seems grim, but then again passing in your sleep with your wife and dog at 95 doesn't sound awful.

Did no one have Hackman in their picks for 2025? Colossal bag fumble moment considering he was already 95.

I think most of us didn't think because he'd long been retired, like Connery.

Trachtenberg though? Crush forever. Tragedy of the year.

I presumed they had been dead for a while and someone went to check on them. Gonna guess they've been dead at least 3-4 days.

reminder that when gene hackman won best supporting actor for unforgiven, he beat al pacino in glengarry glen ross, and jack nicholson in a few good men

and it was undoubtedly the right call

Authorities are saying they've been dead for about 2 weeks.

The actor Gene Hackman was found dead in a mud room in his New Mexico home and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, was found dead on the floor of a bathroom on Wednesday, according to a search warrant affidavit. An open prescription bottle and scattered pills were discovered near her body on a counter in the bathroom.

A dead German shepherd was found between 10 and 15 feet away from Ms. Arakawa in a closet of the bathroom, the affidavit said. There were no obvious signs of a gas leak in the home, it said, and the Fire Department did not find signs of a carbon monoxide leak.

My theory. Either wife OD on pills and Hackman died of heart attack and/or fell in confusion, OR Hackman heart attack/fell died, his wife OD’D in grief, dog ate the pills scattered on the floor and died as well

The rest of the worst part - they were partially mummified.

Edit: I doubt suicide. My best guess is Hackman was trying to get help for his wife, who was getting pills for something with her, he fell, she died, one of the dogs ate the pills and died. He died from the fall.

Dog that died was in a crate. Two other dogs were alive on the property able to enter and exit the house via doggy door.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

God that all sounds just awful. I saw a statement from one of their children saying she didn’t know how long they were there.

I call my mom every single day, and this is a sad reminder to keep doing that.

I read a neighbor called the HOA for a wellness check when she saw the other dogs running outside and looked like they were hungry.

It’s very sad to think even a celebrity like him had no one checking in on him regularly.

Honestly this was one of my first thoughts. 2 weeks and nobody at all decided to check on them... just sad
