Oh she was out of office. Still wild that being in an assisted facility isn't an automatic removal though
On one hand, it's insane this was allowed to happen. On the other, at least it means it was always -1 R vote.
Her situation was closer to Diane Feinstein's than Mitch McConnell's, afaik. Staffers hiding their inability to work so they can keep collecting the trickle down (lol) benefits of her seathood.

Man Wayne County really doing their all to hold it down for Israel in Michigan, AES barely ahead with 70% counted https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...e-primary.html
The MI-08 House primary was won by a guy named Thomas Smith who suspended his campaign last month
Trump's hand-picked endorsee is losing by 14 points. He's a black cop who converted to Christianity named Amir Hassan.
Republicans being so racist/islamophobic they're going against Trump to vote for a guy who isn't even running anymore. Incredible. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...8-primary.html
Michigan is an incredibly weird state politically. Also Stevens has been running non-stop ads saying Obama endorsed her and she helped save the auto industry in 2009 here.
Like so many conservative southerners move up here during the automotive and factory boom then they got more racist during the race riots and white flight. The influx of middle eastern immigrants coupled with 9/11. It's wild

El-Sayed is currently ahead by just over a point, but it's still far too close to call. One of the biggest reasons I want him to win, beyond agreeing with his platform, is because it would send a message to the Democratic establishment, yet again, that you can't cover up a weak candidate by dumping massive amounts of money into their campaign.
Stevens had more than $70 million in out-of-state money behind her. She's a sitting congresswoman, ran a flood of attack ads, played the sexism card almost immediately, implied she had Obama's endorsement when she doesn't, and has acted as if the UAW is behind her instead of El-Sayed. Even with all of that, the race is still this close.
That should be the wake-up call the Democratic Party keeps refusing to hear. "At least we don't have an R next to our name" isn't a winning message. Stop relying on that and start running on policies that actually give people a reason to show up and vote.
yeah, but that's not going to change. Not in our lifetime anyway.
