Which is still silly as fuck because it has like 1 real launch game lol

i think it's simply having the stock more than anything (+launching without anything resembling a rival for a couple years in either direction). remember how deep and prolonged the scarcity for PS4s and PS5s were, they prolly coulda sold millions as well if they had the supply for them.
So did the og Xbox lol it just happened to be the first game in one of the largest and successful franchises of all time. But really I think the enhanced performance on switch 1 games is driving a lot of the sales with the hardcore base.

Good for them really.
Firms set a release date, we want their item, work for it, budget and buy. Its fun when it is simple as this.
Scalpers, bots, F5 spamming the websites…turns me off rather quick.
Agreed. Scarcity doesn't make me want something more. It makes me want to engage with it less, until it isn't scarce anymore. If it never becomes available down the road then its no loss, because I'd already survived just fine that long without it.
Good on them for hammering out that supply this time and sowing vast amount of seeds, and they're reaping the harvest as a result.
It's fucking Mario Kart though, that's all most people want on a Nintendo platform. It would be the equivalent of Microsoft deciding to launch a new Xbox with just Elder Scrolls 6 as its launch title, if they decided to keep it exclusive to just that console.
Nintendo properly stocked up for the initial launch wave rush and it paid dividends for them, and so far I've not been hearing of them having any issues with their network backend either with the fresh influx of new players.
Mario Kart is absolutely a console seller for those the switch 2 is marketing to. The switch and switch 2 are pitching to a very different audience than the rest of the consoles, and the casual gaming audience that doesn't own any other consoles but the switch will absolutely shell out just for mario kart.
Sounds to me like we're agreeing with my original statement that it's fucking silly for a console with 1 game to sell so much and nintendo just has a hold on people.
it's a different market though, most people/families that buy Nintendo consoles WANT multiplayer/party games, I would agree if, say, the ONLY game that launched on a PS6 was something like Gran Turismo, that wouldn't be a console seller cause that isn't the main demo of people that buy Playstations, but Mario Party/Kart are absolutely console sellers for Nintendo. I honestly feel like if the only Launch Title had been a new 3D Zelda then the launch numbers would have probably been lower then they are now, same if Prime 4 was the only launch title.
I hear what you're saying. Clearly I underestimated the Kart appeal. Just still seems crazy to me I guess even though I do enjoy playing those games with friends. Just not enough to buy a whole console for it I guess
Eh.. Cyberpunk, Civ7 and Street Fighter 6 are running rock solid. Fast Fusion is awesome. Yakuza X is one of the best titles in the franchise, Zelda's got wonderful updates, the console is almost completely backwards compatible without an hassle. It takes 20 minutes for you to completely transfer everything you've owned in your prev. Switch. You've got to keep in mind that while these games may be on other platforms having them portable is another thing.
...and we know almost every major franchise is on its way to Switch 2, including FFVIIRemake 1-2 and 3, Elden Ring, CoD, Zeldas, Metroids, Kirby's, Pokémon's EA games and so on.
As things stand, Switch 2 offers hundreds of hours of gameplay and an almost guaranteed high quality titles for the future. Looking back to PS2, PS3 and even PS4 (which is, imo the most successful console) none had an amazing lineup of games initially. A couple of in-houses AAA's and some mid-range games that are far from the console potential.
Those are all old games and if you're buying a switch 2 to play them, that's just silly.
Yeah but you weren't able to play them on a Nintendo
I think Krandor was mocking more than justifying
Playing on a handheld is appealing, but from what I've seen of the older cross platform games (SF6 and Cyberpunk specifically) they're running at more or less the same graphical settings as what's already been possible on PC handhelds.
No? LCD steamdeck is 400 bucks
