Not really. There are more open areas, but one or two doesn't have the same problems as something like Kingdom Come: Deliverance or a Far Cry.

yeah the RE engine has always been a banger of good looking beautifully optimized games with small environments but clearly was not designed for open worlds where it goes to die

I can't remember shit about 2 other than the combat system was aids. Did the story at least hold up? Ideally some crazy dev team would just rebuild all of Xenosaga 1-3 using 3's systems.

I don't actually remember how I rated the story in that one, lol. I don't think it was horrible, but all the other elements might have overshadowed it - the battle system (which tbh would be amazing if it was only for boss fights and something simpler for normal enounters) and weird character models are the main things I remember from it. Oh and weird music experience - tracks by Kajiura were amazing, but the stuff by the other dude not so much

I remember playing through 1 as a teen loving it getting 2 and the battle system eventually wearing me down around the mid point. Never really went back after that.

What I mostly remember from 2 was it being a huge departure from the storyline that was originally planned because Takahashi was overly ambitious yet again.

It wasn’t necessarily bad, but certain elements and plot threads from 1 were clearly abandoned.

2 had the weakest battle system. And the story was very centered on being inside someone's mind exploring the past. The story was fine but felt a bit slow. 1 had a better battle system and 3 perfected it
