I wouldn't say DK or Fox was shoe horned in. I just think they have a marketing strategy, and it makes sense to try and include characters in multiple types of media at around the same time.

Alright, so how do we force Captain Falcon into the 3rd Mario movie so I can get a new fucking F-Zero that isn't a mass-multiplayer mess?
Gonna be $60 physical and $50 digital USD. Apparently also gonna be $50 physical at Wal-mart and Amazon, for now.
On one hand I'm happy to get another Star Fox game at all after Zero bombed so hard but on the other hand this is the 2nd remake of SF64. The character designs are... something. Definitely uncanny valley, I think it's mostly the very human eyes. Photo real isn't necessarily bad but you gotta give them animal eyes if you're gonna do that. Feels like what certain Ocarina of Time fans wanted in a remake. And if there actually is one I hope it doesn't end up like that. Like all those unreal engine mock ups people make online.
Anyway still gonna get it cause I get every Star Fox like I get every Metroid. I don't think it will be bad at all but it's just SF64 again. Kinda like that shot for shot remake of Hitchcock's Psycho. "Why?" comes to mind.
Honestly with the character designs and the title at first I thought it was gonna be a remake of the first game on SNES. Not sure if that would be better or not since SF64 is already a rehashing of that story. And Zero is just a rehashing of that. Kinda crazy how the only original stories are Adventures, Assault and Command. And they're all sequels.
Idk man, I want too love star fox a lot more than I do but it's literally the SNES game just remade again. New bells and whistles sure, but I've been playing the same game my entire life. Something new would be pretty nice

Ayup. Sept 1 it goes up.
Edit: Also random, but Takashi Tezuka is retiring, so farewell to a legend.
Don't care, Starfox updated is good enough for me as long as they add some things. RE1 was redone for the GameCube and was basically the same game with better graphics and a few new things.
Still waiting for a 4-player co-op and some rail-shooter modern enhancements, but I suppose I'll get them in the 7th straight 64 remake.
Graphics and music are absolute fire, though. The game looks, runs and sounds gorgeous. I just wish they'd take a page from the some of the fan works (Star Fox Event Horizon is absolutely incredible) and show the Cornerian fleet as actually competent, just out-gunned on a technological scale. No matter how cool team Star Fox are, they cannot win a war entirely on their own. They should be working alongside the Cornerian fleet, handling specific tasks and running insertion and surgical strike missions from time-to-time. If it was up to Star Fox 64, aside from Katina, the Cornerian Navy may as well not even have existed.
Sounds like they should expand on their own universe with a new game with a new plot and not the same one since SNES

Sounds like it, but they've been shellshocked since Star Fox Adventures and are too terrified to do anything but remake their best-seller.
Nintendo Direct coming tomorrow, June 9th, at 10 AM ET. 50 minutes long and the Treehouse afterwards will be 95 minutes long.
95 min treehouse means they're dropping something huge tomorrow.
We just got a new Donkey Kong and a bunch of Metroid stuff, plus the Starfox remake so... new Animal Crossing?

OOT remake.
Hopium: New Xeno or Smash
People are carrying the torch for OoT remake, and it is the 40th anniv of Zelda if I'm not mistaken. Though I also wouldn't be hurt to see a true Mario game. It's weird going this long without a mainline game; I don't think we've been this long without a Mario game since...Gamecube? Personal preference is they remember Twilight Princess exists, but that's not happening.
Was Odyssey not a mainline game?
