According to the news outlets, as per new EULA we've got another case of not owning what we paid for.

The agreement gives Nintendo the right to brick a console and render it totally unusable if not used the way Nintendo wants you to, ie modding.

Usually modding would risk getting banned from online services but they take it a huge step further apparently. When they do not face a backlash there is no limit on what they can do, it all started with Ubisoft saying "fuck you" to gamers that've paid for a game and we are here now.

I see "you don't own anything you've paid for you are just licensed to use it" spreading like wildfire, beyond gaming really.

Anyone getting pre order notifications for this yet? Nintendo loves that forced shortage.

I'm somewhat curious if Switch 2 has enough performance juice that publishers start targeting it as the LCD of multi-plat releases, meaning Series S users might start getting treated better as a result due to the game having to run on something even weaker than it.

oh yeah Switch 2 is more hanging around a Xbox S (S significantly faster CPU, Switch more RAM, Switch tensor cores for upscaling, small GPU advantage for S) than a PS5 or Xbox X. DLSS and VRR are doing good work getting it to punch above its weight but like last gen Nintendo has entirely abandoned the hardware specs race to court a different market.

Yeah DLSS really helps the switch 2. It will probably have a lot of games that look and run better than series S despite being a little bit less powerful because of that until the consoles get FSR4, if that even happens.
