Hope you didn't pre-order from a staten island gamestop. For whatever reason, they stapled people's receipts to the box, and it damaged the screen.

How much we talking? Seeing BotW on emulator awhile back was one of those "God damn, WiiU/Switch hardware really was gimping the game's visual potential" moments. The texture filtering on console obliterated most of any surface detail in most areas. I'm assuming it's mostly just that and pushing the shadow/draw distance further. Doubt they did anything to correct the game's shitty colour range being limited, leading to a lot of greys.

For a second I thought you’ve only got coke and pringles instead.. that’d be a bummer lol

Update: Pre-order has arrived! As of this evening almost every store I’ve visited has more than enough stock and I did not see extra busyness around them.

If they managed the supply chain well enough to meet the demand great for them. Could indicate lower sales as well though, it was a brave decision to release it early summer rather than holiday season.

As previously reported if we are speaking of a PS4 Pro level handheld I’ll be more than happy for the foreseeable future.

Part of me goes 'well, at least we can still use the Pro 1 controller instead of Mario waltzing into our house and beating us with a turtle shell until we buy a new one'

The other part just goes "Seriously?"

Either way, walked into my Costco today and got the bundle with no fuss.

Finished Pokémon Sword a few hours ago, went on to Scarlet. Game looks and feels great, but the performance is kind of lacking. Was going to wait with the Switch 2, but the upgrades the game appears to have gotten kind of make it tempting to check out if I can maybe grab a Switch 2 at a local store tomorrow.

The difference is huge. There are still shitty textures and pop-ins, but at least it's a smooth experience.

it's night and day. BotW struggled to maintain even 30fps on 900p, docked Switch 2 you're maintaining 60fps without drops in busy CPU-heavy areas and the resolution has fuckin skyrocketed from 900p to 2160p for x6 pixel density (textures are readable and grass actually looks like grass instead of fuzz! there are blades and everything). HDR gets what color palette there is popping nicely with the cell-shading, and draw distances indeed increased. load times seem about half as long as well.

i didn't expect as much as they did tbh but the game's art design was always beautiful and it finally actually looks that way on the screen. frame rate doubling + steady is the biggest improvement however it feels silky smooth and so much better to play.

also popped in Three Houses for fun and while there is no graphical update (besides HDR improving colors a bit) the game finally maintains a stable 30fps without slowdown even in busy areas. good to see older games with no official support can take advantage of the increased hardware to at least run better.

Yeah, think I'm gonna cave. Just checked and, based on the online inventory at least, they're still in stock, so I'm probably gonna head out tomorrow morning and grab one.

    Hands on Impressions:

Device looks, feels, plays next-gen. I don’t get what those who call this a Switch Pro are thinking, Street Fighter 6 Demo has been a clear display of generational leap.

PC-based competition may have stronger CPU/GPU but none feels anything close to this.

    Best launch game so far?

Soul-fucking Calibur II. I can’t believe it has been 23 years since I heard the character selection theme, felt as if I’ve heard it just yesterday.

I went into Best Buy today to pay a bill and I looked behind the counter they still had about 30? of them left. I don't know how many the store got but I doubt they sold that many of them between last night and today.

Nintendo price spikes suck but good on them for getting mass amounts of stock into the big markets despite all the tariff squabbling, none of this artificial shortage business. saw reports they managed to stockpile 7-8 million for launch day inventory, appears to have paid off.

I was pretty surprised when I called the local GameStop and they said they had more units than people in line. Quickest afternoon off I ever took.

    This was unexpected.

I mean it wasn't a next generation game, but Astlibra revision looks MUCH better on my Switch 2.

Fire Emblem, 3 Hopes (not houses) uh.. shows it's age.

But the frame rate is stable. It's a musou style game that was barely tolerable on Switch

Alright, ended up being sold out after all due to the store's weird online inventory, but kept an eye on local sales and found one just EUR 50 above retail price (granted, I still added another 100 so the guy would look at my message).

Finished updates and copied over my old data. Currently downloading my games again, although I was surprised it copied over more than just Pokémon; looking forward to seeing how things end up turning out. Console itself definitely has had a lot of QoL added, looks and feels great. Can't wait! Still keeping my old Switch, kind of wary of carrying the new one around.

Edit: For incompatible games as well, of course.

Cyberpunk looks great, plays great, supports cross save(hell yeah) and physical version is actually physical.

    Good Job, CDPR
