The article actually describes what she did if you scroll past the first image, guys. She helped him give immigration enforcement agents the slip by sending him and his lawyer out the back door.
idk where in the law it says judges have to send people back out the front door, but I imagine some sad sap at the justice department is about to spend a few miserable years trying to find out.
I mean is it obstruction of justice if the defendant and lawyer are accosted in court and agents arrest him before he is provided due process and sentenced?
They're alleging she directed them to evade federal agents but there's a little more to this story than that.
Aileen Cannon is way more guilty of obstruction of justice and nobody arrested her federal ass.
That's what I mean though. If they're going to jail a judge because they didn't send someone out the door of the Department of Justice's choosing that's pretty above the line. If the judge said come stay in my guest room to hide from the police then that is more understanding. I doubt that's what happened, and I'm pretty sure the DoJ is just stepping out of bounds, but context matters.

We're all fucked because the working class thinks little Susie having fish instead of ramen for dinner is more important than human rights and democracy. What a shitty way for this to play out

It's turning the temp up another degree. Seeing what the reaction is. If a Judge can be arrested for it, then the teachers and the bus drivers that were so bold last month will lose their nerve. Everyone will be afraid. Context really doesn't matter. The fear does.
After the judge gets released it won't have mattered why, only that it was done. She was unjustly burdened and you will be too if you get in our way.

Art of the deal folks
Also she didn't let him out the back door. She was repeatedly in session and ICE barged in demanding his arrest, when she asked them to leave and they didn't she had the guy escorted through the juror exit.
Guess that didn't fit their narrative.
I don't pretend to know about the jurisdictions involved with the arresting of a judge, but having the guy being investigated for using taxpayer money to attend sporting events and fuck his girlfriend, while acting as the head of the FBI, make the announcement is a bad look.
fuckin with a judge's courtroom is gonna lead to bad times.
my cousin is a lawyer and he was defended someone in a property dispute and the plantiff's lawyer did some grandstanding shit and she tossed him in jail for contempt about 15 seconds into his tirade. that lady did not mess around.
