I think a lot of people will expect a visceral reaction or at least a denial in regards to the hardcore Calvinist nationalism stuff above. They will not be getting any of that though.

I think a lot of people underestimate how popular that kind of thinking is among evangelist circles and in the Reformed church especially. There is a reason that there is so much pedophilia and domestic abuse within Calvinist churches (and the church as a whole, but I'm being specific here.)

Women do not vote or make decisions on anything whatsoever - full stop. At absolute most, they vote according to their husband or father's instructions. Violating this opens them up to a lot of things within church doctrine. Beatings, ostracization from the church, potentially divorce (to which some more fringe denominations suggest the woman commits suicide afterwards,) etc.

As you can see if you read the replies to those tweets, this is not just some kind of fringe extremist commentary that has a bunch of bots responding. It's very popular among Christians. There are people in my family that are all about this stuff. I rarely ever speak to them.

He's a "conservative economist" from the Heritage Foundation, and is routinely the most ignorant, mendacious commenter on economic issues I've ever seen on Twitter.

It's a truly awful choice, he's demonstrated over and over that he doesn't understand the data he uses to support his horseshit economic arguments and there's no reason to believe he'll take the collection of economic data integrity seriously if confirmed.
