Fucking game is sold out everywhere. Wild. I *think* I secured the last copy at a nearby Target but it was the last copy, so I hope they actually put it aside instead of me having to go over there and be told oh we sold it and initiate refund
my game share buddy told me last night "oh btw I changed my mind and got RE" so I started the download before bed lol
Anyone running it with path tracing on? I'm curious how it holds up since it's a day-1 thing for once, and every media outlet going on about it all covered the same early sections, and not actual gameplay areas where you think it'd have more of an impact in the way enemies are lit and your flashlight is moving about.
Pulled an all nighter, it was an amazing experience on PS5 Pro. Initial sections scared me shitless, survival horror toned itself down a bit as I got used to the gameplay but overall, as designed both Grace and Leon sections deliver. Grace sections make you double think before using each bullet while Leon sections are...well, RE4 in steroids. I also like the way they switch at the cliffhanger moments.
I will totally avoid spoilers but I absolutely enjoyed seeing how things are in the RE World and Raccoon City 2026.
Ended up double dipping on Switch 2 to play on layovers, as expected, RE Engine is extremely well optimized. While the game is totally delightful on PS5 Pro, the technical highlight is definitely the Switch 2 version. It also has its own achievements system to ensure replay value remains sky high.
Overall, Requiem does everything perfectly to delight the fans of the series. It doesn't try to revolutionize the Resident Evil, just builds up on the 30 year old formula while playing super safe. 10/10 if you love RE.
Watching the PSSR2 video from Digital Foundry and wtf?

I haven't played it on my base PS5 yet (I definitely will) but yeah, that's more or less how it looks like on Pro. Very impressive. Apart from Rebirth this is probably the only game that makes me want to play on my Pro specifically.
that said, don't let a single screenshot mislead you. First of all they are different shots, taken at different sections and under different lighting conditions.
I've also played it on Switch 2 for a good while and while face textures were clearly superior on Pro, the overall quality is top notch.
From digital foundry videos, you NEED to play it on Pro or PC to get ray traced lighting, and if you don't then a lot of the baked lighting is very mid. Not horrible, but the game was designed to use ray traced lighting and will look off without it.

Well, I secured my physical copy. Wild that I had to actually look for one. It was the last copy in the store. Literally everywhere is sold out.
g/f is away this weekend with family. Guess I know what I'm doing
I've been playing with Path Tracing on. 4K res and with a 9800x3D and 5080, I'm getting about 60FPS with DLSS Balanced on and 90ish FPS with Performance. Everything looks great.
My wife, who doesn't follow any sort of tech stuff and doesn't know what RT/PT even is lol, immediately said how amazing the game looks.
I'm only about a couple hours in, but I'm really loving it so far.
Jesus, the detail in this game ... Lint on clothes... Skin goosebumps... Blown away.

Doesn't look that bad in the actual video it seems....but goddamn makes me want a PS5 pro. Not gonna drop extra $$ though, i'll just get the game for PC too after I play it on ps5 with gf
Beat the game, very fun.
No story spoilers in spoiler below, but talking about a bit of gameplay and time spent only, but hiding it behind spoiler in case people don't want to know what gameplay/structure is like and the time I spent:

Not sure where I'm at with the game completion wise, so kind of asking (slight spoilers, so don't read unless you beat or are far along)

Just started, finished up "Act 1" so to speak. Fucking amazing, forgot the feeling of running low on ammo and scraping by, having to dodge enemies and knee capping them.
Okay, they definitely gave Leon just the right blend of action and strategy. It really feels like I'm playing two different characters instead of inventory and skin swaps.
