Also this is one where I think the audiobook may be significantly better for reasons.

It's just a really well done plot with a satisfying conclusion. Doesn't matter if it's book, audiobook, or movie, Andy Weir just hit a home run with this one and everyone enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the movie, I was a bit bitter that they spoiled Rocky, but whatever it was a surprise for me when I read the book. And maybe they had to do it because its a blockbuster. I loved the movie but I really missed the sciencey aspect, like the divergent science/evolution between the eridians and humans was explored in more detail in the book. But I suppose thats the price to pay for a new medium.

I think so if you're a science nerd. A lot of the book is competence porn which makes it very fun.

Like a sciency nerd or a science nerd? I feel like some of it wouldn't hold up for actual scientists.

It's not 100% accurate cause he's trying to tell a story, but a lot of the science in the book holds up to scrutiny. Timings might be off by a few years here and there, but theory wise it all pretty much jives with science
