Without being too spoilery, what direction should I be going to complete act 1? I've gotten the wall cling, dash/sprint, and float. I dunno what other upgrades there are or where exactly I "should" head. I've gotten Reaper, Wanderer, and Beast (terrible, wtf were they thinking with that down attack) crests. I've wondered my way up into Sinners Road and Bilewater and I hate life and want to go a different direction. I got deep into it with like 1,500 rosaries and I was fearful of dying because there were like no benches for large swathes of tiles with difficult platforming/juggling mobs.

    For act 1

    Spoiler: show
you generally want to be on the left side of the map.

i can't even imagine bro i'm gonna eat like 100 deaths by the time ol girl is done

officially cruisin on through Act 2, discovered there are two distinct ways to get there cuz all my pals were talking about the Act 1 boss and i was like ???? got a totally different final Act 1 boss

game rules, killing some of the side boss bitches and unlocking more crests before going in search of melodies. think i'm about 2/3rds done depending on if i wanna finish all these silly wishes or not.

yeah i guess I'm maybe 55% into it, having tons of fun with it. boss fight attempts going from crushing defeat to glorious triumph is doing it for me

couldn't play today, thought about it most of the day

i can't put down the Reaper crest and am perhaps overly reliant on its dash strike. it's very Shoryuken. i also take unnecessary contact damage sometimes. it's great

Getting some of those tools is a game changer. They can really up your damage.

I think I'm near the end of act 1, I rang the last bell, but there's quite a few doors I have yet to unlock.

Can I go back to these areas after act 1?

Feel like I'm at the end if act 2. Act 2 has certainly been easier then 1, with so many more tools available

I just got the hookshot and have to figure out where to go now. I've definitely seen a bunch of rings all over the map and forgot to mark them all off.

So far I'm not finding anything "too hard" and since they nerfed environmental damage to 1 instead of 2 (in many cases, not all) the platforming is a bit more forgiving.

I've found a bunch of extra threads, and have 7 life. I have a whole plethora of tools, and now need to find some more ore to make additional tools. Crazy how many there are. Though I guess they're just like pins.

Last night I did the Savage Beastfly over the lava. I was having a pretty difficult time, until I switched tools. What a difference.

I'm not racing to finish. I've been enjoying everything and exploring a lot. If I get frustrated I stop playing for a bit and go back to it. I've got about 28 hours on the game. I'm taking it slow and being meticulous, farming where I "need" to.

My biggest first world problem is that I have the Trails Remake this Friday, Hades 2 next week, FFT Remaster the week after, and a couple other games in October. Christ. Good problem to have especially balancing work, a g/f and a recently deceased parent and everything that comes with it.

I love Metroidvania but I definitely miss the Castlevania era (ps and ds era) and overall prioritization of exploration.

Metroidvania nowadays are pretty good but they seem to be leaning too much on difficulty and overall punishing approach(die and you backtrack bitch). I tend to do well in them but end up feeling frustrated at times.

Leave Souls alone lol. Not every game has to match its difficulty.

hate being that guy but don't think Silksong is that that hard, always places to go and tools to use to make the tough stuff manageable. i am not that good at platformers or metroidvanias and smashed the final boss 2nd attempt fwiw. at least prior to the h i d d e n content which i hear is rough stuff. not needed to get credits tho.

Oh I agree, currently playing first Hollow Knight has been sitting in my backlog for years, 20 hours into it and I am having an awesome time. Had 4-5 frustrating bosses that I am slashing one by one thanks to weapon and mask upgrades.

It's just that at times they feel like a boss rush. Super fun game overall, probably at least 9/10 for me, but I really miss the pacing of DS Castlevanias. Exploration, Story, RPG elements, challenging bosses, puzzles, soundtrack variety...they've got the balance super right.

Wow. FUCK that gauntlet in High Hall. I finally fucking beat it after trying like 20 times+ Poison is the winner here. Between the caltrops and the throwing daggers, I spammed that on the last part, but christ almighty was that annoying as fuck.

Was the first time I was like man fuck this game lol.

It costs same as Donkey Kong’s shitty withheld content released as a dlc. With such a smart pricing strategy I am not surprised tbh.

Am currently playing the original, after finishing will likely take a break to avoid burnout yet I Day 1’d Silksong. Someone finally thought of re-visiting their Econ 101.

Honestly why I haven't touched some games in the genre. Bloodstained was the last I touched, and while it wasn't a perfect game, it knew not to fall into insta-death platformer hell.
