Higher interest revenue over the life of a longer loan. Even with a performance windows of 7-9 years, they will make the money and then some, and in the cases where the loans live to paid-in-full, significantly higher interest income.

The majority of people buy a monthly payment, not a wise financial decision that takes into account depreciation and all the things you mentioned.

I dont think the point is that the buyers are considering long term financial gains and depreciating value when purchasing the car, its that the banks definitely do, and it seems like a much larger risk for the banks, especially with lower payments meaning the amount of time it'll take to fully recoup the cost of the vehicle itself takes longer.

Overall with an asset like a vehicle that basically plummets in value so quickly after it leaves the lot, 15 year loans seem like a huge risk for banks to take, and when you consider its probably less financially secure people taking those loans, I think that piles on the risk. And when Banks take huge risks and fail (market collapse), we're the ones who pay for it

Grew up in a piss poor family that is still poor as shit that I help out daily. ACA shit isn't gonna effect me in the slightest currently but it will impact my parents and other family members. Okay let's say you nuke the Filibuster. You do understand it means anything Dems do can be instantly undone the second they lose power again right? The ACA would have been gone the instant Trump took office the first time without it. I'd rather have difficult to obtain progress that lasts over progress that only lasts as long as one side keeps power.
