Over here in reality, the language of the act would prohibit withholding any information in the files beyond redacting the names of victims, even in the face of an ongoing investigation.

If you're going to drip shit from your grin at least bring up that it requires passage in the Senate and the President's signature, and talk about how much work has doubtlessly already gone into scrubbing them. There's a better chance that files in the hands of authorities in Canada or the UK see full release.

The part I struggle getting past is that, you know, there's a ton of people that are within the government(s) that have seen these files, that want them released. So if they just come out unabashedly and either outright refuse and tell everybody to fuck off, or release them totally redacted, with literally just Democrats mentioned... a shitload of people capable of immediately outing them are going to be furious.

Too many people have had hands on this shit. If we look back on this in the future and it turns out that somehow they got every person on board with keeping it under wraps, I will be totally shocked. At that point you're basically living the plot of Eyes Wide Shut.

If there are defections on the House bill to the tune of what they're implying is going to happen, that's proof right there that a ton of people that previously towed the line for these creeps do indeed have a red line in the sand. Like, we haven't seen this kind of stuff at all in either of Trump's terms, nor Biden's term as the opposition party. This is probably a huge reason why the old guard was so viciously opposed to him initially, and probably still are behind closed doors. He dominates the party and commands the majority of the vote himself. The vacuum that will be left behind once he's gone is bigger than any other figure in American political history and it's not close.

A lot of these clowns in conservative media think they can be the next Trump and become the firebrand that carries the cross for a generation. I guarantee you that won't happen. That's also why so many of them are gung ho for a total authoritarian takeover, because it's the only way they can stay in power after Donald's in the ground. Barring an unimaginable collapse by the Dems (lol) the GOP is going to face a decades long climb back into relevancy once their golden calf isn't galvanizing the boomers.

When I was a kid under Dubya, all of the big names in the Republican party were well known and discussed, up and coming people in the party got talked about, primaries were pretty robust. The bizarre hero worship and tunnel vision wasn't there. Fucking everybody knew who Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, etc... was.

Almost nobody is like that now on the right. Most of the conservatives I interact with, real people - not terminally online weirdos that guzzle Twitter koolaid - can't name hardly anyone in the cabinet. They have to think for a while to even remember who JD Vance is lol. I fucking guarantee you the vast majority don't know who any of these assholes in Congress are. Only the God Emperor matters. Until he's gone, and nothing is left except the ashes of a party destroyed by its own machinations.

100% it won't. The one thing Trump doesn't lack in is Charisma. Patel and that other Indian guy are already getting a taste of the racist slop they helped push out. Vance has absolutely no charisma and is only in his position due to Thiel. Thiel is gay, so MAGA won't accept him, there is no token's in MAGA land. Bannon and Stone both know they work better behind the scenes, not as the face, so they are out. None of the women MAGA reps will ever be accepted as a leader either.
