we kind've beef with everyone because we're by far the biggest + most culturally significant but also with no one because of it. kinda like what the US is in the anglosphere of la hispanidad but less ahead of the pack.

but also that especially so in the states as 60%ish of American Hispanics are Mexican and most of the rest of you are too dim to figure out the other 40% aren't.

That's kinda wrong about east asian browns though, the browns are all one giant group. The English divided them.

Maybe because I’ve lived in Florida all my life but I’ve never had an issue distinguishing between Mexican or Cuban/Puerto Rican etc. I’ve found that physically, Mexicans appear more copper skinned and tend to favor Native Americans in appearance. Cubans/Puerto Ricans are typically more light skinned. And even if you can’t tell just by appearance, just listening to one speak can clear it up. Mexicans tend to habla espanol a bit slower, I dare say even in a typical American southern accent. Cubans (and Puerto Ricans in particular) hit that lightning fast Spanish that leaves your head spinning even if you are fluent.

Mexicans tend to habla espanol a bit slower, I dare say even in a typical American southern accent. Cubans (and Puerto Ricans in particular) hit that lightning fast Spanish that leaves your head spinning even if you are fluent.

ha ha! This. My Spanish is pretty good but I don't consider myself fluent. Sometimes I can understand a Mexican speaker clearly say while a song is playing. I have overheard Puerto Ricans talk though and NOPE! It's like listening to an old audio tape in fast forward.
