All that really did was play into the trope of, "He was a nice boy. No one could've seen this coming." It also puts stress on the legitimacy of the leak(s) relative to the initial batch. With this presumably all being on Discord, anyone anywhere could've typed out the chatGPT-like shit which wasn't really confirmed legit by the interview(s) either. Should also point out the platform is pretty notorious for people getting their accounts stolen via deceptive DMs/links.
My concern, and similar to the Trump attempt, is that there are people within the GOP staging events like this with the shooters as sacrificial pawns and the targets as acceptable losses. You're not going to see those conversations where they would've been groomed into it and presumably promised rewards, wherever they took place. This administration is simply not trustworthy enough to take anything they put out at face value and are so far up their own ass that you almost always have to assume the opposite. The right is itching for a war. How many more events like this have to happen before they get it?
The contents of the post that Kate retweeted:
"anyway, the choice america faces going forward is live in the confederacy or do reconstruction for real and purge those motherfuckers from all of public life. and there isn't really an in-between."
I personally don't read that as "go around killing the right", moreso, shove them back into the background and out of power but I can see how someone could read it the other way and feel threatened since purge has a more violent connotation, especially with the Purge movies being a thing.
Either way, the original tweet is desperately trying to say she got fired cause SE is... trying to hire more people? Something Yoshida constantly plugs in every live letter and in interviews because they want to hire more people.
Also, maybe those texts are really Tyler cause that's just how those young Mormons speak these days. Right?!
I don’t really buy these arguments about how fake the transcripts sound. So what if they don’t talk like the kids these days? He already proved he’s an enormous outlier by assassinating a dude in broad daylight, who knows how else he deviates from the norm?
It does point to a more insidious problem - we’ve been on about the right being post-truth for years now, that they don’t trust anything in the media and believe whatever they want to believe that slots into their worldview. Well, that sounds a lot like some of the posts I’m seeing here. I am not saying that anyone is wrong or bad for thinking these thoughts, and I certainly find some theories to be plausible or even likely. I’m just concerned that our worldviews are growing further and further apart and more divorced from reality.
I have a habit of trying to find the worst in every situation. On one hand, it's how I prepare for whatever bad so I'm not surprised by it. On the other, it's knowing some are incredibly complacent and if I don't, blowback will probably fuck me in some way, shape, or form. It's not just something I limit to politics, either. If I'm pleasantly surprised by a situation, fan-fucking-tastic, but those days are feeling more and more rare.
Now, as someone that immerses themselves in online gaming, streamer culture, has relatives around that age, has tried to be aware of what AI can and can't do at the moment, probably spends way too much time in forums, seen people constantly complain kids are getting dumber because everything except fucking the education system, and so on, passing that "conversation" off as an outlier is... not it.
Among various punctuation curiosities, I'd point out that double space typing after a period isn't something that has been taught in schools for a long, long time. AI has a bad habit of drafting text in ways that are not natural to conversation and this probably gets even more quirky when you demand it formatted in a way that isn't grammatically appropriate like a back-and-forth in text messages, discord, or whatever other shorthand online sphere. Talking about leaving no evidence behind, but having a conversation about said evidence, is one of those logical blunders a computer lacks the rationality to distinguish at present. As well as him just casually sitting around the corner watching a cop car sitting by the gun. Just lurking and being on the phone is gonna be incredibly suspicious when the cops should be in a high alert state. And while I could see the Temu Gomez Addams schtick as a meme a couple does on the side, I don't see anyone writing like that in a high stress moment. Given his dad was a cop, I'd also say it's weird he let him keep chatting despite getting turned in as it could have led to further compromising of the investigation if he told his friend(s) to destroy evidence. I think most parents would be beating the shit out of their kids, throwing their phone into the wall, and basically being emphatically angry motherfuckers that their kid did something so stupid. And yet it's all been oddly peaceful.
Either way, while I'm not saying he didn't do it, there's an irrational rush to justification that one side really, really wants and is in a position to control the narrative. We're probably never gonna get the true "why" just like the Trump attempt was hastily buried faster than his ear mysteriously healed. The left being happy a shitbag got karma'd shouldn't be surprising in the slightest, though.
Thomas Crooks is dead. Tyler Robinson is alive, and will have a trial.

Indiana Jones is now woke anti-Kirk slop.
Patriots, we march on Bethesda! For Charlie!
If this guy was super lefty in any way they'd have found that info already and be plastering it everywhere to hype up the hate train even more. That entire text convo sounds fucking wonky as shit and not one of them said "no cap" lol. Right wing media would be having a field day with "trans this and trans that and Obama made him do it" even more and of course MSNBC and CNN would be "Hmm this does seem troubling on how the left as pushed the rhetoric towards so much hate, hmmm hmmm" even more.
Whoops he hung himselfThomas Crooks is dead. Tyler Robinson is alive, and will have a trial.
I guess if you’re willing to believe that they would fake those transcripts, why bother engaging with it at all? Comparing how they text to how the norm texts in order to implicate fraud is a weak argument; it would be stronger if you compared it to their previous writings. And to take it one step further - we know that AI can easily mimic someone’s writing patterns if given a sample to digest - why wouldn’t they have done it in this case? And for all the supposed hallmarks of AI writing in the text, well, it’s pretty easy to tell the AI to remove those and/or proofread it yourself. You could argue that they’re being sloppy due to haste, or that they don’t even care because the base will believe it regardless. I mean, what if it was “perfect?” Wouldn’t that also be cause for suspicion? It’s pretty easy to get caught up in sixth-order meta-analyses.
“They’re lying about the transcripts because they demonstrably lied in situations x y and z when they had similar motives” is a compelling argument, go with that. Murky, unprovable deep dives into minutiae just sound conspiratorial.
The point isn't to fool people like me, but their base. Since I don't really hide being a lefty in my activities elsewhere, this also encourages right-wingers to disregard anything I, or those like me, say by default regardless of speculation or evidence-driven fact.
With a history of Donny wrigglin' and what amounts to the most egregiously corrupt government we'd probably ever had, just smiling and being all, "CASE CLOSED!" is otherwise what they want. For now, it isn't so much about winning as it is just saying people haven't given up.
This administration does itself no favors with building trust with how it disseminates information or how it deletes & warps information to suit its narrative. Just recently, it has deleted a study by the DoJ that right wing extremism is the cause of most political violence in the US. Most of the "facts" they disseminate are proven false by various outlets & studies and, on occasion, by themselves. I'm always skeptical of what the government puts out, but this is the only administration where my instinct is to immediately call bullshit and go from there.
Its about as dumb as the Armenian genocide being started because somehow the minority in your nation somehow lost the war for you. Same with the Ottomans purging undesirables.
Any justification that lets you murder is a good enough justification. You overestimate humanity. As always.
I feel like this really isn’t the relevant issue at this point. There’s a reason they are running wild with “the left is celebrating Kirk’s death”; it’s true (just look around here!) and they need only quote people’s social media accounts to prove it, no lying required. It’s going to mobilize a lot more people than just linking the shooter to a trans person somehow.
They go low, we go high strikes again.
Do yall remember when George Floyd was murdered and everyone saw it on video including his kids, and Charlie Kirk called him a scumbag? Not everyone was celebrating those deaths, but that didn't stop the fake outrage from using it as an opportunity to demonize the other side
It’s kind of hard to be seen as the side of truth, justice, compassion, empathy, and acceptance when you are also the party that celebrates when its opponents die, especially in such a high-profile case. Rejecting “going high when they go low” is how you become the monster you despise.
