Feel like if he’s going to “rig it” it won’t be with numbers or machines, it’ll be like, through some old shitty legal “wartime election cancelling” shit that exists because our founders and lawmakers made a bunch of laws under the impression we would elect honest people.

When I think “rigged election” I’m more thinking about the many ways he’ll “legally” interfere with it. Deploy that national guard “quell civil unrest” strike team to key voting districts in swing states? Idk! Definitely the Jerrymandering mentioned above though among others.

But yah I don’t think (and I don’t think anyone’s implying) he’ll just falsify the numbers and declare himself winner.

It's literally the only play in the Heritage Foundation playbook. It's just a single page with a giant font that says "DO ALL THE THINGS ALL AT ONCE".

He literally tried doing this in the election he lost. What else does "look for this many votes Mr. Georgia Election Administrator" mean? What else does Stop the Count mean? Failure doesn't mean he isn't trying. He is definitely trying, and clearly getting better at it.

I just wish we could all meet in reality and not, in our own individual ways, pretend this moment isn't as big as it is. As cliche as it is, actual representative democracy is on the edge of the cliff and we're all bitching at each other on a dead video game forum.

It is not lost upon me that this might actually be the way ancient civilizations came into ruin in their own time. Just stupid arguing and bickering over details that are less important than the threat we equally face. I swear republicans have this figured out already which is why they're winning.

The poll numbers are good news, but keep in mind the unfortunate fact there will likely be more widespread voting map changes from red states. The Republican led Supreme Court also can't be trusted with not chopping into the civil rights voting act case that they're hearing.

Blue states are going to have to counter hard, with Virginia's AG race also being pivotal to make sure Dems don't get blocked from their redistricting attempt to not make the midterms a one-sided ordeal for Trump. Hochul in New York also stated while current laws prevent her from doing it for the midterms, she will change maps for the next presidential election.

Besides the map changing to look out for, Independents moving away from Trump is also a critical factor. That's a major reason why Trump's approval numbers have sunk lower with each passing month. I do have optimism for the midterms, though Democrats are going to have to be great at their messaging and playing chess to really take advantage of the GOP's fuckups and regressive platform as a whole.

Do you think they're just holding back for reasons this time, throwing away some governorships and the mayor of the largest city but are going to doing it for really real next year

Elections today are largely localized and not nearly as important to fix, but they do sow the seeds for change. During Obama, republicans weren't doing so hot nationally, so they refocused to the city level and worked their way back up. The national message doesn't carry weight if it isn't shared on the local level.

I think that doesn't work nearly as effective as using it against the economy though since food being too costly sucks and you want it fixed, but not being able to eat AT ALL makes you fucking mad and you give zero shits about "waiting"

Her first part of if the statement matches what I read on this. SNAP recipients will get some benefits back, but the admin informed organizations and state governments a month ahead of time that they would be losing benefits access so prepare for an end to services. To restart those services, it's a process.

Blah. More fighting. It worries me bad as someone who's LDS; if you didn't know the Church has the Bishop's Storehouse, which is incredible if you're LDS and can't get food any other way. Options aren't teh greatest(or even the healthiest, darn it. I should know since we had to use it for years) but it's basically a amped up food bank that the Church actually grows its own food and cans and packages it itself, then offers it to the poor of the Church (and sometimes nonmembers. Depends on the bishop of the local congregation.).

Problem is I don't think that's a secret. I wouldn't be surprised that if this drags out too long there will be a RASH of people joining just to get fed ("rice Mormons" in other words) and a lot of angry people. Something like that is already happening in Utah b/c they make it VERY hard for you to get SNAP, I understand, and if they can't do SNAP, they dump these folks onto the Church. Makes me ashamed. I've warned our local Relief Society pres just in case and we're praying that things work out before it gets to that point.
