Ditto. Aint buying a digital only system (unless it's Nintendo, since I gobble most of their balls) and will be mostly pirating PC games then. Fuck digital games period, I am not spending money on something that doesn't exist. Happy to buy all the physical stuff though; I might even be able to convince myself to buy keycard only stuff even, but maybe not.

The whole point of consoles for me was that I could get a physical copy to skip the download (or at least the fair majority of it on some modern titles). Also means they have even less of a reason to say, add disc-based BC to the system as a separate hardware add-on like they are with the PS5.

Horrible news for the industry and I am personally disgusted with this shit. Considering recent digital domination though this will not negatively affect their overall sales and probably end up being more profitable for them. People aren't going to give up Vidya, and console players won't be mass migrating to PC.

And have to admit, we did fall for the convenience of digital. With regards to Nintendo, well didn't they kill their digital store for DS/Wii U while they were working perfectly, causing prices of their physical versions skyrocket? Assuming they go digital sometime down the road as well store closure will mean an ultimate end for a console, apart from extremely expensive account sales and stuff.

At least Sony still keeps VITA/PS3 store alive. On life support maybe for understandable security reasons but still up.

Edit: Apparently they are shutting them down as well. FU.

I think it's bullshit for Sony to be killing physical discs off mid-generation after selling people a console with a disc drive, but we've been in the digital-only era for consoles for years already, and for PC it's been well over a decade.

That digital license can also be revoked at any moment without warning, as Sony has already proven repeatedly. What's actually being lost here is the ability to pay $10 less for the game than you normally would.

It's an asinine thing to do and they're only doing it to take larger cuts of game sales. But instead of winging about the loss of a physical disc, people should be arguing for permanent, transferable licenses.
