While we're on the topic of Sony being assholes to their consumers, they employed a dark pattern on their webstore to try to push you to upgrade your PS+ sub, when my intent here was to just buy the game by choosing the second of the two options.

Hitting Add to cart made the confirmation sidebar ask me to upgrade my PS+ instead, with a small "Skip to Checkout" at the bottom of the column to just pay for it directly.

Saros unlike returnal is a bit more accessible while Returnal is much less forgiving. So if anyone could not get into returnal due to difficulty, Saros addresses that allowing you to get pretty op if you spend the time grinding.

ye the permanent progression and more modular difficulty makes Saros a whole lot easier if you want it to be. Returnal isn't insaaneelyy difficult tho your average Souls gamer can get there.

I suck at Souls games, but I platinum'd Returnal. I did put the game down for about a year due to skill issues, but when I picked it up again, things just clicked and I was loving it.

Short of just wanting to play the current month's games for $10 and nowhere else in the year, I could see a use-case for it (or to reactivate expired PS+ games from a prior sub for said month).

Fully expecting the annual fee to go up, or at worst bump up the price on Essential (entry-level tier) to try and coerce people to say fuck-it and upgrade to Extra (the 2nd tier).
