Knicks are built for the playoffs. bad depth, garbo bench, limited offensive adaptability being too heliocentric on 1 player, but all that matters less in the postseason so long as healthy. top of the league bball IQ + clutch ass Brunson combined with defensively versatility that can adjust the clamps to the matchup works better in a series.

that said they faced a weak East (their best playoff win is still dethroning Boston last year and they're lucky Hali's ligaments exploded), either OKC or San Antone will give em a challenge.

Bad depth and garbo bench definitely matter less in playoffs when your rotation shortens, but spelling your best players and not giving up leads to a black hole when they sit is pretty important still. I think a championship team still needs to have quality down to 8 deep.

well it's at least slightly better than last year with McBride and Shamet hitting enough 3's and Robinson being a good enough defensive roleplayer to not hemorrhage leads/occasionally slot in with the starters. their bench stats are inflated because of all the blowouts but it's def playing better than last year.

that said short rosters can win it all (if 8 is about the playoff ideal, regular season more like 10). depth is great, it's all that will save you from injury flameouts, but the Nuggets won with their starters + Bruce Brown all averaging double digits and no one else averaging 4. Bucks won with a 7 man rotation as well. and if New York gets OKC it should def matter less since their own depth is fucked with Jalen and Ajay crippled/out.
