Fans are really split. The more dedicated fans and online discussion, vibes are stoked, I think they could be scary pretty fast but it relies on a huge if (Edey being healthy and his injury being an outlier)

The streets and casual fans in the city are BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG MAD. There are a lot of Ja lifers in town. There is a really big contingent of "Ja is the city, let him do whatever he wants, fire anybody he says to, give him the keys" that are gonna be hunting Kleiman down for the rest of his tenure here.

one day age will truly catch up to him and he needs to be covered a little defensively so he can manage his energy expenditure, but basically Bron can still do anything and fit in anywhere. wonder if he really wants to chase a final ring or what. Golden State def ain't the move for that.

I don't think they really give a shit about his accolades, it's more that he repped the city really really hard in a time where a ton of negative press was getting heaped on Memphis (and it still is to an absurd degree)

Memphis has literally never signed a high profile free agent in history and there is a laundry list of players, talking heads, politicians, etc that just openly shit on the city and the people who live here on a regular basis. Ja came here and got the i40 bridge tatted on his back, built a bunch of ball courts, used to invite kids to his place to hoop (this went really badly btw lol) I could go on

His aura in the city was unquestionably the biggest for a sports player ever. I don't think team success matters very much to that contingent at all

It is part of the reason why I personally can't forgive him for giving up on the team so many times. Going to games and seeing hundreds of kids that brought signs, jerseys, etc dying for the chance to see Ja play just for him not to, really sucks. Bro didn't play more than 6 straight games for over 4 years. Didn't play more than 3 straight home games in over 4 years.
