Well, let's start with the minimum wage. "Those jobs are kids who want some pocket money. Burger flippers don't deserve $x per hour!" Okay, who is operating these restaurants between 7am-4pm in non-summer months? They then go on to just assume they're lazy, unskilled, and that the work is mindlessly easy despite the latent rush nature, heat exposure/risk of injury, and social ridicule impressed by society. I hate waiting 10 minutes or more in a drive-thru as much as the next guy, but I frankly hate that anyone working these jobs for 30+ hours a week can't comfortably survive on that job alone is cruel and devoid of sympathy. The issue of other jobs not paying as well is independent, but nonetheless worth negotiating as we realize just much wealth extraction has been favoring the upper class for decades. CEOs not need another a yacht and a fourth summer home may be a meme at this point, but it also has its roots in truth. A lot of industries also have useless middle men bloating the costs of everything simply through their mere existence. It's all just one big excuse to fuck the poor and keep them poor because too many have convinced themselves they're better people (and more upper class) despite being poor, themselves. You'll also get those who've succumbed to economic stockholm syndrome and just flat out believe that because they had to suffer, everyone else must, too. It's all just your token conservative stagnation and regressive propaganda justified through the lie of the american dream and situational ignorance. "But then everything would be more expensive!" Funny how she's way more expensive these days despite not pushing the MW to livable levels. What could POSSIBLY be the cause of that, I wonder...

But all of this ignores the adults who are working these jobs despite having degrees, had to come out of retirement, can't find local work anywhere else, and then some. So, while I'm a big proponent on believing getting enough money in peoples' hands solves a lot of life's problems and stresses, we're still stuck in some twisted economic jungle law scenario because half a century or more of conservative brainwashing has done its thing. Which is kind of ironic because part of what MAGA aspires to is fundamentally rooted in leftist policies outside of the racism and xenophobia. That's just a bonus and convenient excuse as if illegals are stealing high paying jobs and buying up all the homes and shit. Any job that can be done remotely should have the right to be done so, as well, but we've got a mix of companies trying to justify the costs of overpriced rentals/ownership and toxic "if you can lean, you can clean" mentality that wants to micromanage every worker's waking moment regardless of performing their jobs as requested.

The cruelty is the point, I guess.
