i too hate how they expect things like a good film instead of nostalgia slop
oh yeah kids are idiots and let them like what they like i just think it's a bummer a lot of kid's blockbusters these days left the Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks ideal of making a good movie first and instead rely on look at the thing you recognize on the screen brain-rotted child
shout out Sonic 3 for managing to do both
Fuck the haters, the first movie was great

Just got back from watching movie.
Again just overall a fun movie with plenty of laughs! I really enjoyed. Not much to say really but went in for fun and came out happy.
Just got out myself. Fun movie, and it seems like Chris Pratt actually tried more this go around and worked on his Mario voice.
Mid credit scene was also top tier.
Yoshi pretty much stole the show

Glad I skipped almost all the trailers since they seemed to show too much (as is the case with most trailers). It was hella enjoyable but it was really fast paced. Shit just kept happening. I can see why the reviewers didn't like it but I also don't care and enjoyed the fan service this movie was meant to be, especially the final section of the movie.
This was my son's first movie, he loved it and clapped at the end with the rest of the theater.
If you're being critical I can see why you wouldn't like a lot of the movie, but it was packed with fan service and a lot of fun looking for cameos and Easter eggs. Wish I didn't see the last week of ads cause that one character reveal would have hit a lot harder.

This’ll actually be my son’s first movie too. Bought tickets for tomorrow. We’ll see if he doesn’t want to leave in the first five minutes. He doesn’t like crowds and he’s weird about loud noises lol
Taking little man tomorrow. He absolutely loved the first one.
Just got back from it. It’s a great kids movie. I thought scenes sometimes ended way too fast, but I can live with that given a lot of the action was very entertaining and the fight choreography had absolutely no reason to be as great as it was. My only real narrative complaints are thatSpoiler: show
My kid made it through his first theater experience flawlessly though.
If you liked the first one, you'll like this one. A nice, tight 90 minutes and jam packed to the brim with specificity with references to tons of Mario (and Nintendo) stuff. Gotta give Nintendo credit, packed it with tons of nostalgia and references for the old-heads while making it just rapid and fast paced for the gen-z brainrot lack of attention span age group.
Honestly pretty fun all around
So just saw this with my son and 5 of his friends, all ages 11-12. Ngl, I found myself grinning at scenes like a 12 year old myself. It's a great video game movie.
Video game history/lore/retcon question as my Mario game consumption has thinned greatly in the past many years
