As I understand it, Venezuela's constitution mandates an election in 30 days so assuming his VP doesn't try to rig that election (big if I guess, depending on how big Maduro's cult of personality was among the people who rigged the previous ones).

So there is in theory a much easier transition in power than in the past when the US has inserted itself into these situations.

Venezuela has the same type of oil as Alberta, if the US wanted to stop imports from Canada as part of it's trade war, this would make a lot of sense.
