The literal quote from what you just linked is "The CEO added that there won't be any AI-generated content in Divinity". How dare you slander Larian's good name with your ironically slop paraphrasing.

There are plenty of very vocal idiots (like apparently every single person on reddit) who see anything or anyone using AI/LLM for any reason as pure evil who must be stopped at all costs
It's only killing the planet, could be worse.
Though I feel like at this point everyone basically is going to be forced to use it to the extent that Larian described.
Larian really isn't that bad. Nothing like those e33 punks.

Because the vast majority of people don't care, but those that do are exceedingly vocal about it.
Probably because 99% of AI application has been ruining everything
1. They do. They've just been ignored just like they will with AI
2. Hypothetically maybe. All the actual use cases right now suck
Yah I like the concept of AI to help with shitty monotonous tasks, or (as an example I remember) it being used in medicine to help with diagnosis and research due to its ability to compile and understand vastly more data than your average human... I dont like the idea of AI replacing Artists, or producing TV commercials, or Voice acting, or destroying our Planet to make a funny video.
So while I'm vehemently against most cases of how AI is being used now, I'm definitely open to the idea of it improving our lives without fucking our climate if that time comes.
The way I read how they used it was the "Monotonous task" way and that gets a Chuck Norris thumbs up from me.
Ok Divinity OS2 was on sale so I grabbed it. OS1 definitely feels outdated so skipping that like everyone else suggested.
Now my question. Pros and cons of playing a custom character vs Origin character?? Is this similar to how it is in BG3?
Definitely play an Origin character. Choosing a custom made character doesn't really get you any benefit and just means you'll have one less character storyline to work through.
BG3 was more suited to a custom character or Dark Urge
i played a custom character cause i like creating my own characters and it went swimmingly, but aye there isn't a bespoke Durge option like BG3. still get reactivity tags and the like as in a non-Durge custom for roleplaying / dialogue options.
one of the huge changes relative to BG3 is you don't get to experience the stories of the origin characters you don't select for your party, so of the 6 you can roll through at most 4 in a single playthrough (id est no party swapping after the intro area, you lock in after Act 1 and that is the party you'll have for the rest of the game). feels kinda designed to roll through the game twice with a custom + 3 of them at a time. but that's a big ask, prolly best to select one so you can roll 4 if you have no intent playing again.
With how big the backlog is, probably just one playthrough for me. Will likely do 4 characters even though I like making my own
I guess how much content is there in each character's story?
oodles, and like BG3 they're tied in intimately with the main story / other NPCs / side stories. some of the best stuff in the game comes with them a la Shadowheart's + Astarion's stories.
my personal all stars were Red Prince, Lohse, and Sebille, but Fane is very funny and the favorite of many, and Ifan is really solid as well. Beast is widely regarded as the worst, because he is the worst, but otherwise pick whomever you want they're all good to great.
only must pick i'd argue is Lohse, her bespoke content absolutely slaps.
Beast had his story improved in the definitive edition from what I've read in the past.
For best experience I'd say Lohse/Fane/Red Prince/Sebille, which I guess is also exactly what AG said, and I'll also double down 100% on no matter who you play, who want Lohse in the party.
iirc for gameplay purposes Fane gets you infinite lockpicks
Well those 4 looked the most interesting to me too so I guess thats gonna be my party. Thanks!
never played any of these games but i enjoyed bg3 and os2 is apparently on sale for 15 bucks on ps5
guess I know what I’m doing for winter break
It's even cheaper on Steam if you pc game at all
