In Canada you only get free heathcare for emergency, or health related issues. So cancer treatment would be 100% free.

Replacing teeth is considered cosmetic non-emergency. So you would have to have private insurance to pay for that, or out of pocket.

Although if your poor, you could make an appeal to the government for help.

This is great to hear, I always wonder about him now and again. Used to raid with him in d1 and clearly remembered how much he yelled at everyone.

Depending on his level of income he might qualify for the Canada Dental Plan, but I doubt that would cover all of what he needs done.

Canada has universal healthcare, but we don't have universal dental care. They'll do emergency removals at the hospital if you've got abscesses or risks of infection or something, but anything beyond life-saving dental work (again, mostly just removals) would require some kind of third party coverage. Many employers will have dental care as part of their benefits but it sounds like he needs major work done which he'd probably have to spread out over several years under most common benefits coverage. We've made small steps toward universal dental care but I doubt any more progress is going to be made in the near future based on current government dynamics.
