To be fair, his hiring history has been pretty piss poor and we don't know to what extent the secret service has been shuffled around since both periods in office. It is possible better agents noped out knowing what kind of shithead he was and their replacements were the proverbial second or third stringers who never would've landed the job under normal conditions.

Despite that, we're up to three "attempts" that can't really be waved away by incompetence. Even calling the second one an attempt is pretty sketchy.
