13-2 wasn't bad. Just mediocre. Basically a 6/10 type game.
LR has the distinction of being the only ff game I started and didn't finish

I don't think I made it more than an hour into LR.
XIII-2 had a good combat system, though the story was fucking dumb.
Also while XIII sucked overall, I still stand by the Gran Pulse section (Chapter 11) being one of the peak FF experiences.
I missed ONE treasure chest somewhere in FFII and now I have to go through the whole game again to finish achievements so I'm gonna say that's the worst Final Fantasy.

i've still never played any of the XIIIs...one day..
Hope from XIII is the most realistic FF character because any teenager thrown into a Final Fantasy situation isn't going to say oh boy time to go adventure with my cool adult friends, they're gonna say this is bullshit and I hate it and all you grown ups are old losers.

If I'm thinking about which FF games I've beaten, should I include XI and XIV if I did all the story content?

And despite the criticism from fandom, Hope actually develops into one of the best characters personality wise in the game.
Let me see what I can do with the full list, leaving out the parts I have no opinion on:
Worst Protagonist: Bartz (FFV)
Said this already but you could forgive Firion and Luneth being kind of bland and generic as they existed in the NES era (I don't think Luneth even had a name on the original release). But then they did IV and showed they could have a protagonist with personality, only to walk it back with V and make Bartz an almost total blank slate. "Has a chocobo" isn't a character trait.
Worst Antagonist: Necron (FFIX)
Was just talking with Ayn about all of FF's asspull villains popping up out of nowhere to take the final boss slot but Necron is by far the worst offender as there is literally no build up or reference to it anywhere else in the game.
Worst Overworld Map: FFXIII
Literally one part of the entire game that's worth exploring, or even able to be explored. Garbage.
Worst Mandatory Boss Fight: Wiegraf (FFT)
Can't immediately think of a better one so I can agree with this.
Worst Optional Boss Fight: Hard/Ultimates (FFXIV)
For reasons I already stated, XIV's boss battles are the worst in the series. Even the ones I think are fun, just the entire way they're handled undermines the whole point of progression in an MMO. Grinding through however many prog groups and attempts hoping for your drop so you can finally get it only for it to make no difference because you still die instantly if you don't play whatever red light/green light variation in the same circular arena as every other fight makes it all bullshit.
Worst Mandatory Dungeon: The Great Crystal (FFXII)
A non-Euclidean nightmare with an Escher painting as a map. There's a ton of really rough dungeons in FF history though, it's hard to pick just one. Eldieme Necropolis in FFXI, the Marsh Cave in FFI, most of the places in FFXIII.
Worst Optional Dungeon: Pitioss Ruins (FFXV)
Even getting there sucks, you can game over instantly if you don't land the Regalia in the tiny landing strip set aside for you.
Worst Side Activity or Mini-game: Monstrosity (FFXI)
Just a pointless system that no one ever does which comes with zero instruction or purpose. Honorable mention to farming summon drops from Goblin, Bomb, Mindflayer, and Cockatrice in FFIV.
Worst Battle System: (FFXIV)
Been over it before but it's bad. Honorable mention to FFXIII for being a numbered entry higher and a console generation later than XII only to give you fewer options and less control.
Worst Side Quest System: Jobs (FFT)
Dropping off 3 characters and then walking back and forth between map locations to kill time isn't actually the same thing as having a side quest system.
Worst Song: Chocobo Theme (FFX-2)
Let's take one of the simplest and most iconic character themes in the series and turn it into this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6O-8uAyr81Q
Worst Chocobo: Red Chocobos (FFT)
No argument here, Red Chocobos are bullshit.
Worst Airship: The Strahl (FFXII)
You never even get to really use it.
Worst Cid: FFXIII
VI, VIII, and XII are all varying degrees of asshole, but XIII's is so unmemorable that I don't even know what he contributed to the game. At least the other guys I can tell you something about.
Worst Ultimate Weapon Grind: REMA (FFXI)
It's easier now but "now" isn't when most of us were playing.
Worst Party Member (Not Main Character): Shadow (FFVI)
Ok yes he's very cool but he's also a murderer, a mercenary, and a deadbeat dad. Alternate choice would be Snowe (FFXIII).
The more I think about it, the more I realize people hating on VIII’s junction system lacked creativity. Junctioning 100 death spells to your weapon was fucking hilarious and fun as hell.
Sorry Anoat
At the very least it’s better than XIII’s auto pilot garbage. Like someone else said, how the hell do you swing so far back on the pendulum from the control of XII?
The initial drawing phase sucked, but as the game went on you could generally get all your spells for junction from converting cards, and everyone loved the card game.
13 focused on trying to make the battles look dynamic because they were trying to use the power of the PS3 and make it feel like Advent Children. The thing I hated about the paradigm system is that Ravagers were magic only and Commando were physical. You were basically forced into making physical DPS like Fang and Snow into Ravagers if they were fighting with Lightning.

I don't think I'm changing my answer from FFXIV but Adamantoise from FFXV has to be a high contender for worst optional boss.
I just don't even understand how people got high level enough in 15. Even when I outleveled enemies fights just took forever.
