GMs have already internalized an ever-raising cap, over at least the next few years, and realize prospects and draft picks are not as valuable if your window is open right now.

There is sense in trading picks for established players when you think your window is open.

There is not sense in trading multiple first round picks and players for 1 year of Bowen Byram, lol. Especially when the pick you're trading could very easily be turned into a better version of Bowen Byram that you have 6+ years of control over.

There is zero coming out of the Leafs right now so these reporters saying Knies is in play is wishful thinking being fed to them by teams hoping to egg the Leafs into listening. And it'll take more than the 4OA to get him, lol. If someone offers something completely insane then I'm sure the Leafs will listen but right now there's no indication the Leafs are interested in moving a young stud built like a brick shithouse under long term control while they're trying to win.

I think it's funny that this year's crop of UFAs was Zzzzz compared to previous years, but holy shit the trades leading up to the draft and FA day hitting has been bonkers.
