At this point, surely Bedard's camp realizes the 17 million ask is untenable. He's been healthy for 1 out of his 3 NHL seasons.

Even if his career high wasn't 75 points, he can't blame a lack of support producing (which is a weak argument for a supposedly elite player) for always getting injured.

Any athlete taking that deal has to know it knee caps that organizations ability to hire sufficient talent to win a cup. You play the sport, sell tickets, have a good time, sure you get all that, but fundamentally good fucking luck having a deep enough squad to survive one of the most grueling playoffs in sports.

Meh, with the way the cap is rising, you can get away with one to two 12-15 mil players IF you draft/develop smart and be shrewd in free agency.
