From my experience a PLD is only as good as his back up/healing team is. Not manye PLDs solo stuff like a NIN would, so it all comes down to what I said. Support Staff: No MP on PLD = no hate control (i.e. RDM support or BRD) No Cures = dead tank (i.e. WHM or anyone with good sence to cure PLD)

As Arno said, this thread is irrelavent and pointless. I've seen RDM/NIN on our server tank Fafnir flawlessly. PLD you say? Bah! Sounds to me like this thread is about who's (kupo) is bigger. ROOFLES

But to be honest I'd have to say Litoriceboi, Arnolectz, and Mrwatermonkey are the most competent PLDs I've seen. Which is the best PLD? Can't really say and i doubt anyone can really say who since everyone has their own perspective etc. Fine maybe I'm bored and dug this too deep That and I don't want to get pummeled by either or for choosing sides

I have to vote for original Almaa too. When he got the mobs attention, he would not lose the mob's attention. One time while doing a coffer key party I nuked a mob a few times, did a few high-level cures on people in the party, converted, and then cured to full- the mob did not even look my way. That was some mighty fine tanking.

As in RDM/NIN main tank, for the entire duration and Fafnir died, while having a RDM/NIN tank? Or RDM/NIN went in solo and tanked for awhile playing around then warped when he/she got bored / prooved their point?

How the hell did they hold hate? I find it hard to believe spamming lvl 37 ninjitsu and few of the III spells RDM have could hold enough hate to not kill the rest of the damage dealers unless it was like a 5 hour fight...

But the question is, how do you keep hate as a RDM/NIN? I cannot imagine that you would do enough damage to keep the mobs attention; even if your nukes were not resisted (good luck on that) you would run out of MP before your 10 minutes were up.

Well amarao held fafnir with NO help for 15 minutes as a pld/nin, and could have done it longer...

Amarao you can control and take hate like no other.... very high in my books.

I thought Gir and Mrwatermonkey were very good back in the day as well.

But, ed is Ed.... his Savage blade and tp macros pwn faces.
