Honestly, I never quite figured out how that weird bird-thing on FFXIII was supposed to be Quetzalcoatl. His two forms are a feathered snake or a man, that doesn't look like either one.

Not quite. Look at the length of the body in the picture above compared to the bird-like body of the Guardian Force. Also note the plumage on the head; this is a distinguishing characteristic of Quetzalcoatl.

I get very persnickety when people start messing around with legends relating to the Phoenix though.
