I hope Zigma doesn't get mad but I found out the truely secret way to beat the Dyanmis Lord. What you have to do is upgrade dragoon spear relic to level 4 or 5 and activate the "Shock Spikes" effect because they do 534382947324 damage a hit to him...

Oh noes I've said too much.

Even though I missed it cause of Army work, My Dynamis LS has finally defeated the Dynamis Lord, used same strategy but with more of the right jobs so I hear.

3x brd, 15x rng, 18x blm, insert misc job here. Pretty much the setup we used in daikon. Allthough, we had people change jobs from pld etc to rng or blm if they could once we starded killing vangaurd dragons. As for ying and yang.... Haveing 2x rdm/drk chainspell stun at the same time, I have never seen him resummon them. On our 2nd kill, the fight lasted less then 1 minute with 0 deaths. Droped ring+100piece.

Shadow mantle and Shadow ring are not 100% drop. 100 Money is however.

Dynamis Lord downed by NA's on Bismarck ^^. 0 deaths the entire ~minute it lasted. We had a pretty diverse group of jobs (atleast one of each), but our main strength came from about 10 RNG and 10 BLM. BLM tear apart Ying and Yang, RNG own Dynamis Lord without mercy. 2 sets of 2 RDM/DRK's for chainspell stun to hold him down and he wont get off a single attack.

well, my ls on remora decided we'd take on the DL, but we don't like the idea of being restricted by time so we decided to try kite + use the cliffs to avoid the aoe's. Well we learned that his tri form also acts as a teleport move and usually will summon himself up the ledge and still own us. We got him to 90% decently easy but then he tri formed violent rupture and owned us. Trying again in 2 weeks, but we really wanna find a way to beat him with 40 ppl without using zombie tactic along with not using chainspell stun method, we may resort to those methods to beat him the first time but we want to try a few times and get a feel for the range's on his moves and what not. Essentially a good run with our group was 8ish rngs, 6-8 blms, 4-6 rdms that can sub drk(1 being used for rdm NM). Overall he didn't seem to have all to much HP its just his aoe hp drain will hurt if your all bunched around him. But our main goal isn't to have 64 ppl to beat him, we want to have only 40ish ppl.

Impossible task. But I will tip my hat to anyone who could do such a thing (but they won't anytime soon).

I got bored and checked RDM DarkSkill vs. BLM DarkSkill.

    LOL.

RDM have like, no Dark Skill. My new favorite idea: 10 BLM/RDM stunning (StunRecast~38? I can't remember) and each casting 4 seconds after the last. RDM Dark Magic: 200 @75 = Cap. BLM Dark Magic: 269 @75 = Cap. RDM = pwn'd+1

But again, just an idea. RDM can also only get up to ~230-240ish max, and that's if they put some merits in it.

Skill isn't a big deal when it comes to stunning.

I would say it is on stuff that is resistant to it.

All resists in FFXI are based on skill and elemental properties.

Stun is subjected to the same rules as everything else in the world.

Well Stun and Flash are different from other spells in the sense that most mobs will never resist them 100% (although skill and other equipment can affect the duration of the effect). Usually you either could or couldn't Stun something, but there are a handful of mobs out there (mostly newer content) where skill and gear can come into play a lot more just to get any effect, mostly stuff like Fafnir, Dynamis Lord, Kirin, and some of the newer BC mobs. Of course it's also possible it could be a hard-coded % resist but nobody's bothered to test it so who knows.

I got resisted on Stun once in Kuftal Tunnel at Lv68 on an Ovinik. They're Thunder-based too, iirc.

After that I picked up Dark Torque and a Dark Earring and laughed my ass off at them. I think that it's Skill based but it's not that high of a value for mobs like that. For something like DL, the skill level you'd need is pretty high; hence why I'd suggest BLM for the job. I haven't even looked at DRK's cap yet--wouldn't be surprised if BLM still beats them, though.
