No it is absolutly true. I was fighting Mandragoras as a WAR in Kazham yesterday, and suggested a Fragmentation chain. No, we HAD to do Distortion and Fusion. It was a really good party so I didn't mind, but we would have been better off doing Distortion and Fragmentation.

I hate to bring back the topic to DRGs, but how else are we going to get to 13 pages otherwise?

DRG is the bestest Damage Dealer and Healer and magic user in the whole wide world, you just have to wear the proper gear...
Start from this little gem of equipment for example, other jobs only wish they could wear it:

Seriously though, DRG is ok if you have fun with it, and you like things that float and like to dress in purple (also many equips they can wear like abjurations and barone look really cool).

And you can do many things with your friends I am sure they won't care much. But don't try to say DRG is something that it's not. If you wanted to do most magic damage for example, you wouldn't use drg/blm, you'd change to BLM main, and if you wanted to do most ranged/melee damage especially on hNMs and gods, you'd change to RNG.
Same for hate free awesome dmg you'd take SMN, for non-TP-inducing dmg you'd go MNK chiblast, for tanking NIN, PLD etc.

DRG doesn't have anything special yet for those kinds of things. Wheeling thrust ignores defense, whooptydoo, so does OneInchPunch but it sucks .

Btw I often play my monk with less useful combos for fun, like MNK/RDM with a staff for using the 400+ mp spirit taker gives me back into phalanx+stoneskin+blink and other spells. I even for fun play MNK/Bard and use counterstance so i counter and attack while singing lol. Or sub BST or summoner just to have pets.

If i'm needed for tanking I still go MNK/NIN, for xp i go MNK/WAR.
But for endgame stuff for me to be most useful I go MNK/NIN (for safety) or MNK/WHM for most chiblast (btw with all the MND gear I often stick pretty long paralyze silence and slow on genbu in between boosting :wink: )
My point is that you can have fun at your job but for endgame if you're really needed you should go with what is best for the situation, and DRG doesn't have anything good to offer for those situations. If you want to feel like you contribute in endgame stuff, level another job, that's my suggestion.

How many pages will this thread get to? I did my part making this post as long and as controversial as possible... People could spend 2 pages just debating my statements (all true), like is genbu that easy to enfeeble? (probably). Or "Is bard a bad sub for monks?" (you bet :wink.

well Drgs get different things with each sub they use. and if they sub ninja there little Dragon does healing wind every time Blink is casted so im told. not 100% sure though.

How many times can you nest a post? Because it seems like a good way to fill up pages... Also yeah i think distortion doesn't have all that great animation either. Fragmentation is pretty cool imo. And what's wrong with impaction and compression? worst animations ever. Btw anybody seen any of the lvl 4 ws animations and has a link to some videos of them? But i get off topic, we were trying to get to 20 pages by talking about drgs right? ...

I got laughed at for suggesting we do Impaction on Crabs. Also Fragmentation and Fusion are my favorite looking SC's, maybe it's the sound effects and the pretty lights and colours that make me go "wow". Especially Fusion! That whole "dchoi-ddbbfffOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-chizzzzle!" sound makes me wanna cream my pants.

well even if i were to go to a mnk,blm, or rng PT, i would definitley say i was leeching. with like 3-4 rng. prolly no one will get hit. and besides i wont be holding hate when rngs open fight with 1k slugshot or something. hell, i leveled my friends lvl 59 rng with the other 3 being 59-61 in a set up with Tng. it was rng,rng,rng,rng,rdm,whm(cape terrigan, fighting cocks and gobs)... and we pwned..we didnt even have Utsusemi Ni.i know PLD are far from useless, but in some PT setups, a pld just takes up space =/

and mnk is not that hard to lvl or get pts maybe it's just the hours you play.

6 hours, a few days, it's the same feeling.

if you've been shot once, you can imagine what it might feel like to be shot more than once.

if you've had one day of excessively long LFP, you can extrapolate that feeling and imagine what it would be like to do it for multiple days.

people who keep on insisting "you don't know till you've been there" ideas just have really poor imaginations.

Personally Lv.40-55 as BRD was hard for me. I remember seeking for 4 hours as BRD at 43.
