Best Ninja Haste Setup?

I have byakkos Haidate but you will usually see me running around with AF2 since I get +40HP. In my honest opinion +haste benefits Ichi more the ni. With haste alone Ichi becomes a 25 second cast and Ni becomes 38 seconds. 2% haste is -1 second. So let's say you have the common haste gear thats easy to get. Byakko for 5% Panzer for 2% and fuma for 3%. Throw in dusk gloves just for the hell of it and you have have Ichi at 20, then throw in march x2. Even with the +eva equipment you have there is no way in hell you will tank something like fafnir and dodge attacks like if you are soloing a tough or very tough.

If you ever see beckes at capricious cassie, his ninja has like +10-18 eva only and he has +18% haste i think which he switches speed belt -> warwolf belt when casting. He spams Ni all the time and does blade jin for over 1k and he dodges enough attacks to get by.

My base Evasion is 273 (merits) and about +65ish with equipment, I usually use yellow curry (exp) or Sushi for stuff that has high evasion. I should get ungur boomerang lol. I have a wind staff but it's sorta useless unless you are kiting stuff in a BC or something. If you try to tank with a staff, your enmity will start to deteriorate unless you have a thf helping you.

Thats all i can think of. Keep in mind though just because you have all +eva does not mean thats a bad thing but you should consider doing some personal test to see what you think it best for your character.

I know the OP discussed haste for ninja but as the conversation continues.

I've always tried to be 'balanced' at 69 i've no personal +haste but I have Dusk gloves and the new haste boots waiting at 72. I've a decent amount of evasion (emp pin for 9k more exp then optical hat, agi rings, Arhats+1 feet, elusive earring, SH) but I really like to be more of an attack melee ninja tank, and opt for a lot of +acc/str (spectacles, lifebelt, RKB+2, Amemit+1, str rings, etc)

Sure i don't blink as efficently as maxed eva ninjas or haste ninjas only time I really fall behind is about 1 every 5 fights i'll be waiting on a ni cast for about 5 seconds and prob get hit a few times. For me thats the balance of efficiency and fun :D

so far all ive been hearing is how all evasion in the world is useless at high end and just go haste for utsu recast, why not both? you just need to be in haste gear the second you finish casting your utsu then the timer is set in stone, just change back to evasion gear, so now you got uber evasion AND lowered utsu recast. i mean its only going to take 1 MAYBE 2 macro slots per set of equips

I was doing that with Fuma Khayan's but i can't stand seeing my character blinking in and out and losing target lock. I think that just makes me prissy though

Lol, I think that too when leveling my MNK, I usually change my Hand equipment when doing WS, it's really annoying not seeing your char >.<

not a bad idea try a bit of both. But equip macros.... i hate them they lag on me sometimes ; ;.

you might like evasion but its useless if you're going to tank hnms as nin (fafnir etc etc) When i did fafnir on my nin, I was only able to dodge maybe 1 or 2 attacks the entire fight (about 15-20min of straight tanking ni after itchi and so on) it's best to do HP/Haste and parry with a mix of enmity.

Owned, I can dodge more attacks from fafnir than a ninja. Combine that with parries/shield blocks and I'm practically untouchable.

I saw sekaix use their questionable 6 NINs meleeing Fafnir tactic(???????????????????????????????) with others' evaded attacks unfiltered and yeah, they hardly ever evaded. Like as much as a PLD.

As long as you blind fafnir you should evade him more then 2x throughout a 20 min fight o_o I like to mix up the type of gear i use for tanking. For the higher lvl stuff i stack hp,enmity,-phys dmg down,and haste. I've heard of nin evade tanking all the gods including byakko so its definatly not impossible like people say. Stacking all haste seems like it would be nice for gods but after a small ga theres always a chance of being one shotted in all haste gear since you wont be evading and you will be taking a lot of damage.

But you have a longer period of time of where you could get killed if your shadows are down and your timers aren't up with +evasion gear and no +Haste.

Split it down the middle and use /equip macros to put on haste gear when you are casting spells, the switch to evasion gear when you are done casting. :D

That is why I target the mob and use /as frequently during HNM fights.

There's no best way to play ninja and you CAN tank anything with any gear. Some gear setups are more risky then others but anythings possible.

Also i dont evasion tank since its harder to keep hate in all evasion gear but i don't like how people say something can't be done in evasion gear >.>
