You cant do something unless you try, just seems in FFXI you better nottry anything you havent done/beaten before cause if you fail everybody will laugh at you for something they couldn't do themselves :D

Gratz on Bahamut beating vrtra.

Over on Odin Server the JP LS "TheClan" took him down almost a month ago. Before that he was attempted by a mixture of many hnm LS's, but I think they quit after 10% HP was gone after like 4 hours.

The top NA LS "LimitBreak" tried i think a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure they dropped vrtra down under 20% but they didnt have enough people so they eventually lost.

They did beat the other 2 dragons tho ._.

Vrtra was never impossible, you need enough people, proper jobs, a plan to fit those jobs and a proper execution of the plan.

get remotely close to that, win or lose it's fun.

randomly throw as many people as you can at something and hope something good happens, that's not fun, that's stupid.
